Do you REALLY think an invasion of Iran would secure the election for bush
I'd sooner believe that the American people simply wouldn't stand for it. Not without 100% positive proof (or at least proof that's significantly more positive than the 15% shit we had for Iraq) that they helped "do" 9/11.

We simply can't be that stupid anymore. Even people that like bush know "the intelligence was flawed". Even CNN says so. Certainly the majority of Republicans would like to be a bit more sure this time around.

Please don't destroy my last shred of optimism for my compatriots.

2 wars and he wants a third one? He would come out as the madman he is.

Jingoism usually works.
Just look at approval ratings at the time of the Iraq war.

Hopefully, things have changed, but I wouldn't bet on it.

9. An air war is just the ticket....
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 04:33 PM by Davis_X_Machina
A protracted air campaign scheduled to co-incide with the run-up to elections is all Junta Boy needs.

You get all the good stuff...

  • Rally-round-the-flag.
  • X-Box style gun camera video on CNN.
  • Moslems dancing in the street denouncing us, also on CNN.
  • A bunch of fifth columnists in SoCal to abuse.
  • Wimpy-assed Europeans saying hurtful things.

And none of the bad stuff...

  • Large numbers of white Christian casualties.
  • Protracted ground combat.
  • Occupation and democratization issues.
  • A draft.

It's a done deal, IOW.

Besides, the Discovery Wings channel is in desperate need of new material and footage.

What's 'Wag the Dog' in Farsi?

10. If the American people didn't stand for it, what would that look like?
It seems that the voice of the people in the present moment has little to do with the personal agenda of Crusader Bush.

And if we (not meaning you or I or anyone posting here at DU) can't be that stupid anymore, why is Bush holding on to 50% or more in the polls? Why is it being called a "close race?" Why is there a headline story today talking about how Kerry and Edwards are going to have an "uphill battle" campaigning on what's wrong with the "rebounding economy?"

You're using logic to second-guess what Bush will do. Don't do that. Use your last shred of optimism to help get Kerry elected.

12. An invasion of Iraq could very well put us at odds with Europe.
And I mean REALLY at odds. Germany, France, Spain, Russia et al and even Britain (a post-Blair govt.) would begin to see the U.S. as a threat and we could soon be talking war with them.

My recollection is that Congress authorized Bush to take whatever action he deemed necessary against any country that was involved in 9/11. If he claims Iran was involved in 9/11, Congress has already given him authorization.

except for the BIGGEST freepers out there who get a big hard on at the thought of blowing up Middle Eastern peoples, I think most Americans have a bit of "war fatigue" at this point. I am thinking of my neighbors who are just lukewarm supporters of bush now (actually the wife has decided to vote Kerry but the husband is still on the fence) and used to be BIG bush supporters in 2000 and 2001 and seriously, they would say enough is enough if we invaded Iran now.

Besides, what the hell would we invade them with? I can see air strikes etc, but we have no TROOPS to spare!

Israel will take care of Iran. http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/J...

If anything, Bush should have struck Pakistan's ONE nuclear weapons facility in 2002. But he didn't because:
1. Pakistan is an "ally"
2. He was focused on Iraq for no apparent reason
3. He is a pathetic and worthless piece of shit. If he he's our leader, I'm not following.

NOT!!

I'd rather bomb one nuclear facility than have them use one nuke against us. They don't even have to enter the US. They can leave it on a container ship in a harbor somewhere and detonate it.

26. Elections do not matter
I am sorry - but either they will be postponed, cancelled or BBV'ed. Clearly Bush does not care one iota what the average American thinks or feels.

Americans won't stand for it?? And precisely how would we make it clear that we do not stand for it? Put a little x in front of John Kerry's name - but in the end it makes no difference if the vote is not counted.

How about protest? Oh sure - in free speech zones far away from the eyes and ears of those who need to hear it the most.

How about a revolution? I have NEVER ever precsribed to the use of violence - EVER.

If you really want to make a change to American politics in regards to wars and warmongerers - the only way I can think of that would make them all sit up and take notice is to withhold taxes - on a national scale.

1. chatter of late about 90% chance of another attack by a terrier before the 'election'.

2. whispers about postponing or cancelling elections just to climatize the great unwashed

3. new whispers about Iran being 'aginst us' and aiding the 911 terrorists

4. an event bigger than wtc will occur before November

5. bush will have 'evidence' it was Iran with the media pigs amplifying the lies

6. bush will invade Iran - air attack, not ground.

7. retal on US

8. red alert status in the US

9. dissidents will be punished severely and quickly (the list is already made)

10. elections postponed

1) anarchy,
2) civil war
3) political assasinations.

36. Israel will use airstrikes and commando operations on Iran
Israel doesn't like a nuclear Iran, even though Israel is major nuclear power with over 200 warheads.

They WILL attack Iran. The plans are already drawn up. It will be a lot bigger an bloodier than when they attacked the nuclear facility in Iraq in 1981.

And then the Middle East will erupt in flames taking us down with them.

It's times like this when I miss Bush's daddy. He understood this perfectly.
