Great Clark Interview from Scarborough Country
Edited on Tue Aug-19-03 10:25 PM by DoveTurnedHawk
Now Available on DigitalClark.com:

It's the first link down. He really sticks it to Shrub on Iraq, and presents an excellent case explaining a more enlightened foreign policy.

Just a point of information for people who might be interested. Feel free to ignore.

4. Spreading the Word Is Key
Clark recently overtook Kucinich for the #3 spot in Meetup members, among the Dems. Kerry is next, he's just a few hundred ahead of Clark, my guess is that it'll happen before the end of the month (or sooner if Clark announces before then).

2. Sounds like he's starting to waffle
He wouldn't use the term "false pretenses" with Scarface. He backed off and used a milder term.

He should be using stronger terms. Like Bush LIED.

3. He's never used the term 'false pretenses,'
that I'm aware of, so how could the absense of the phrase now be an example of 'backing off' and 'waffling?' There was an earlier thread about this, and what was true then is true now: rabid, attack-dog speeches only work for pundits, not candidates. Voters don't want to hear that stuff, and it makes the person who does the attacking look un-presidential.

5. Not waffling a damn bit. Look at the transcript.
digitalclark.com has the whole thing. Here's the relevant parts.

S: ...You accused President Bush of deception and leading this country to war under, quote, false pretenses. Explain that.

C: That’s right , because from the beginning, right after 9/11, people in and around this administration pushed to go after Iraq, implying that there was a link between Iraq and what happened on 9/11. No evidence has ever been established or presented for any of that. Implying that Saddam Hussein was about to get a nuclear weapon, that he was an imminent threat to the United States, that we would have to attack under self-defense, and the rhetoric was even going so far as to say that we were being forced to undertake this war.
The president even said recently that we’d gone to war-this is after the war, the president asserted we’d gone to war because Saddam wouldn’t let the inspectors in. Wait a minute. Let’s get the truth out on the table. That’s not what happened. This was an elective war. We chose it.

6. Thanks for posting that.
I just now got a chance to see the clip, and need to correct my error. Apparently he did say we went in under false pretenses, but he backed it up in this interview.

The interview was pretty good; I was surprised how forcefully he came across. He was almost strident at times, but stayed on the right side of the line.

A few more weeks...

8. Not My Favorite Clark appearence.
Something seemed off about him on this show, he had too search too hard for words and the camera angle that scarfaces people used was not that flattering

10. I think he is concentrating on 'cranking it up' to use his own
phrase. He was pretty aggressive, whereas usually he is the calm voice of reason. To me, it's a sign that he's going to jump in the race, or else he wouldn't be tinkering with his communication style.
