Heard on the radio today
CBC news concerning swing states had an sound-byte from some woman.

"I will not vote for Kerry because he's the next Chamberlein. You get rid of problems by swatting them like flies when they're small like Bush is doing. Kerry will wait until they become big and unmanageable. Give me a fly swatter any day."

Someone else noted:

"Damned expensive flyswatter."

:wtf:

1. The one who noted "Damned expensive flyswatter" did it on the AIR
I hope?
Having a cannon to kill a fly in a crowed building... that is Bush as swatter.

2. Yes, the CBC actually does "fair and balanced reporting"
Both sound-bytes made it on the air.

3. You know I am cynical
But I tend to think most people who hear this have no idea who Chamberlain was and will think this person was referring to either Dr. Kildare or the guy who played the Priest in the Thorn Birds.

4. Someone should let the woman see Condoleeza's quote
about Bush being "tired of swatting flies". This is almost comical.

5. Wait a damn minute!
Wasn't Bush the one who thought the Clintons were just "swatting flies" on terrorism, and he was going to do things differently (i.e., that's why he had no response to the Cole bombing once the perps had been identified)?

6. BINGO!!!
I was about to check the White House web site for that one!

Here you go for one: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/03/2004032...

Q But do you think that you or the administration made any mistakes, any misjudgments between the inauguration and 9/11?

DR. RICE: I think we did what we knew how to do. We read the threat reporting. The President was briefed by his Director of Central Intelligence, George Tenet, 46 times with items related in one way or another to al Qaeda. His response to that was to say, "I can't swat at flies anymore; I've got to have a comprehensive strategy to take this organization down."
