Does everyone else see the bias in AP feeds?
AP has either bashed Kerry almost outright in editotials masquerading as ordinary article feeds or they have tried to diminish differences between him and Bush to push liberals over to Nader and third parties.

The AP is subtle in their ways, but there is a definite bias. Notice, their poll was the only one to not show a post Edwards bounce. Now, the bounce may not have been huge, but it made no sense to show Kerry losing to Bush after the pick.

The NYTimes feeds are also similar. The agenda is clear -- Bush must be elected. Whatever liberal media that existed is dead. It's all the same corporate controlled junk.

I suppose Routers is a bit better, but I'm not sure.

1. More and more people
aren't listening to the news or reading the papers for political information. They seem to recognize the bias and are drawn to the internet and international sources for news.

3. I'm getting my news from the BBC and from theage.com.au

British and Austrailan news seem more objective to me. I can't watch any American news at all without seeing cheerleading for Bush and his war.

6. Ownership according to the AP
http://www.ap.org/pages/about/faq.html#2

The Associated Press is a not-for-profit cooperative, which means it is owned by its 1,500 U.S. daily newspaper members. They elect a board of directors that directs the cooperative.

12. And the Headline writers are very biased against Dems - and articles
tend to lean to the GOP point or way of thinking.

Yes - I have noticed.

Reuters is a much better source.

5. Democrats.Com on AP distortions of Kerry - to Push Liberals to Nader
Edited on Sun Jul-18-04 08:51 AM by emulatorloo
zidzi found this one

http://www.democrats.com/

"AP Distorts Kerry Statements, Claims Senator Backs Bush's Preemptive Strike Policy
We have spotted a new attack plan being tried by the BushMedia stategists: Push liberals toward Nader (to whose campaign the GOP has donated thousands) by making it appear that Kerry is as hawkish as Bush & Co. and thus that there is "very little difference" between Kerry and Bush. This AP (A.merican P.ropaganda) headline reads: Kerry backs much of preemptive doctrine" is completely distorted. Here is the statement it is based on: "Am I prepared as president to go get them before they get us if we locate them and have the sufficient intelligence? You bet I am." 'Go get them' as in send special forces in, no doubt. Not as in bombing the hell out an entire country. Last time we looked, there was a HUGE difference. In coming days, expect to see this distortion played up, followed by renewed calls of "there's no difference between the Dems and the GOP."

7. I was thinking the same thing today and yesterday.
Kerry will not let the press distort his views for long.

8. NYT: Edwards a used car salesman, Kerry a dented used car
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x2013980

NYT article;

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/07/18/politics/campaign/18edwards.html

snip

From the Statehouse in Des Moines to an ornate ballroom in Chicago to a modest front porch in New Orleans to a gathering of Hispanics here, Mr. Edwards has been talking up Senator Kerry this week like a used-car salesman urging his customers to look past the dents. While vice-presidential candidates have traditionally been assigned to tear down the opposition, Mr. Edwards, in a kind of role reversal, has been deployed to build Mr. Kerry up.

10. That is why it is so confusing the AP is sueing for Bush's military record
After the used car saleman comment and their slant on poll reporting, AP cannot refute a RW bias. So why are they after Bush's records?

11. Probably to create the illusion of pursuing an issue against Bush,
but choosing one that is not very important in light of all the outrageous crimes being committed right now, and also an issue that they are unlikely to get anywhere with...the records will always be missing or incomplete.
The AP's been whoring for Bush just like all the rest.

13. AP polls favorable to Bush (according to statistical analysis)
See the following statistical analysis I did, in response to a discussion between TruthIsAll and myself).

14. Very interesting
Surprising that ABC came out more favorable than CBS. And both more favorable than the LATimes. So PEW appears to be the one that is closest to being unbiased? Hmmmm.

15. I wouldn't read it that way
Zero doesn't mean "unbiased", it means "average". Also, most of the agencies are within one standard error of each other. If you go back through the links to the first analyses, you'll see that what is most evident is that AP and FOX are significantly less favorable to Kerry. The others are indistinguishable (in my opinion), at least within the power of this data set.

I know most people think of Zogby as being most favorable to Kerry. This analysis doesn't contradict that.
