2. I'd see that!
My favorite mystery genre poking fun at the worst of Bush? And that's a very liberal cast. What's not to like?

6. I saw previews for it before F911
and believe me, the audience picked up on the parody.

7. That looks entertaining! I love the W impersonator!
Oh wait, I’m sure that this movie “is entirely fictional, and in no way represents any person, living or dead”. Yeah, good one! I’ll give them my money, just too show liberal film makers that they should keep ‘em coming!

Edited on Sun Jul-18-04 08:01 AM by fujiyama
It looks interesting and I could tell right away that I wasn't the only one that saw the parody. It was a perfect film to have as a trailer for F-9/11.

19. John Sayles and Jim Jarmusch...
... (JJ hasn't done much lately) are my favorite directors. Not every film they do is great, but it is always at least interesting...

20. Ahhhh, John Sayles, One of the All Time Great Liberals
If you folks have not seen John Sayles other movies, I urge you to see them. How a pretty white boy from upstate New York can write movies that contain characters so true is beyond me. He writes movies about African Americans, Hispanics, Lesbians, etc, like he himself were one.

His books are just as amazing as his movies. He wrote some wonderful things about Central American when Reagan was torturing the Nicaraguans in the 80s. John is one of my heroes.

Here is his IMDB url: http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0000626/

You'll notice he wrote scripts for movies like Wild Things & Piranha. He does this so he can make money to make the movies he cares about. My all time favorite movie is Lone Star. I've seen it over a dozen of times, and each time I fall in love with a new part of it. The same is true about Brother From Another Planet.

Sayles's characters are real people. His characters have dimension and are people you might know. When each actor has their moment, they become the star of the film. Oh John Sayles, I just love him so much. Rent his movies, buy his DVDs. He is a true liberal, intelligent, and an amazing movie maker.

:hippie:

27. Yes! I love "Lone Star."
Edited on Sun Jul-18-04 08:48 PM by notmyprez
That was a great movie. "City of Hope" is another film of his that is similarly rich in characters--I loved that one too. I've been into John Sayles ever since "Return of the Seacaucus Seven" came out many years ago. I saw that film three times: the first time, I said 'that will be my friends and I in a few years'; the second time, I said 'that is my friends and I'; the third time, I said 'that was my friends and I.' But "Lone Star" is definitely my favorite of his movies--it is just SO GOOD!

Edited to add: Chris Cooper was great in "Lone Star," as well as in many other Sayles films. Can't wait to see him in this one.
