The real reason shrubby didn't speak at the NAACP
he can't string two words together to make sense without stuttering...

the speech writters didnt have enough time to write a speech and let shrubby practice it for a month. I am just kidding, but

DAMN Kerry was on FIRE and I realized shrubby couldn't do it

21. Bingo!
The repubs can't control the crowd like they do at each and every Bush public speech.

I know sooooo many dems that were told they couldn't enter a Bush speech because they didn't look like Bush supporters.

Pigs.

2. Great Speech by Kerry!
CNN had on the TV that Bush didn't show up because of scheduling issues. But, didn't Bush say he didn't want to go because they were calling him names?

Which is it, Bush?

5. first he said scheduling issues
and then later admitted it was because the NAACP leadership hasn't been nice to him ... awww, I wonder why ... evidently CNN would rather cast Bush as busy fighting the war on terra and saving society from the evils of gay marriage than the petulant whining baby that he is

movement' and I was expecting to see a J.C. Watts kinda guy on as the guest. I almost wet my pants laughing when I saw who the guest was - an overweight, white guy!!!!

Of course he was defending Dimson's* decision not to show up.

11. My Response to Bush's Complaints of the NAACP's "Mean Rhetoric and Names"
I'm sure disenfranchising thousands of black voters has nothing to do with the rhetoric, President Fuckwad.

I'm sure that your policies like "No Child Left Behind", your idiotic war that sends a disproportionate number of African Americans to bleed for your oil, and your economic and crime polices that make life infinitely harder on minorities and the poor have nothing to do with the names you're getting called, you Steaming Pot of Liquid Shit.

And I'm white, asshole. I can only imagine what the NAACP thinks about you.

14. Hey, Enjoy Your Brief Stay Here at DU
If Bush wasn't such an asshat, the NAACP would have no reason to be "mean" to him. The problem is, he and his brother fucked them over in a major way on Election Day in 2000, and he has been fucking them over ever since.

They have every reason to be pissed off at him.

And his refusal to even talk to them just because they disagree with him shows that he is not "everyone's" president.

29. The Bush-NAACP "Relationship"
Is that the NAACP represents a large group of African Americans, and Bush has consistently fucked over large groups of African Americans. THAT'S the relationship.

Now, if what you're saying is that there's no point in Bush talking to the NAACP and pretending to give a shit about the concerns of a large group of African Americans -- because he DOESN'T give a shit about the concerns of a large group of African Americans, then I'll have to agree wholeheartedly with you.

There's no point in Bush speaking at the NAACP and saying, in so many words, "Fuck you all" -- his actions have said that to them for the past three and a half years.

44. He Will Convince the Masses of African American Voters
That he LOVES them.

He can scream "I LOVE BLACK PEOPLE!" like Jerry Maguire.

He can tell them all about his wonderful initiatives that will raise people up everywhere, that will help schools in inner cities.

He can talk about how he won't send disproportional numbers of their children overseas to die for his oil, because he's a "Peace President -- he makes decisions with PEACE on his mind."

He can talk about his vision of equality for all people, and an end to policies that make home, family, work, school, and social situations HARDER on African Americans.

He can talk about his strong belief in FAIRNESS FOR ALL.

/sarcasm

48. Do you understand how politics works?
Groups such as the NAACP should be addressed by this administration, not only to convince as many as they can that their policies are correct, but also to further the relationship of this administration (actually any administration) to a segment of society that feels they are often left behind. Considering how many blacks were wrongly disenfranchised during the 2K elections, this would have been a prime opportunity to try to show some sincerity about the upcoming elections.

First Bush said it was a scheduling conflict, then he stated that it was because they were "mean to him" (paraphrase). Which story should the NAACP and the rest of America believe? He should have just as well said "Fuck you" to them and avoided the middleman. It has the same effect. He is showing that he does not share any of their concerns and since they arent part of his base or the Republican movement, he really isnt interested in their votes.

38. Every president since Herbert Hoover has addressed the NAACP
at least ONCE while in office, EXCEPT Bush. These former presidents were not "heckled or harassed".

If Bush were the first president to be "heckled and harassed" is it because the NAACP has changed drastically since Bush became president, or is it perhaps that Bush has been hostile to the rights and interests of the African American community?

BTW, Bush spoke to them while he was a CANDIDATE for president, and he wasn't "harassed and heckled".
