ANWR in the Stalled Energy Bill - Shrub Gets Whatever He Wants
So guess what Trifecta-Shrub has won now? The great outage crisis has done what 9-11 did, provide the WILL to do something that was missing before.

The stall in the stalling of the energy bill is due to Dems' opposition to ANWR, among other things. So, now will come Shrub huffing and puffing about how this bill has to be rammed through NOW!!!!

And, after we've been traumatized with 9-11, the Iraq attack, the DAILY deaths and a whole lot of other Shrub DISASTERS---------and now the outage, it will now seem that ANWR is a SMALL thing, so what the hey!

Coming to a convenience gas pump near you.

1. Almost as many Republicans oppose opening the Artic Wildlife Refuge
I'm not sure that is the case in this instance. I hope not anyway. It isn't even close in numbers to pass at the moment. What the Democrats are trying to do and may end up being quite successful is to remove the ANWR provision from the energy bill so it can be passed. It can be played as Republicans blocking the passage of this bill not Democrats.

2. Well, Hope So. Thanks for the Positive Window
I'm sort of shell shocked into seeing Shrub's evil prevailing everywhere.

4. GOP and Big Business use ANWR as a "stalking horse"
ANWR gets all the attention, then gets a reprieve in a compromise bill that includes tax breaks for coal and lower emissions and efficiency standards, more highway construction, and a host of other legislative horrors.

6. educate me
on why drilling in ANWR is bad for this country? I'm for finding a way out of the middle east, including additional drilling around our own country, especially deeper in the gulf of mexico.

I think this should be done in addition to pushing through MUCH tougher average MPG rates for cars/trucks/SUVs, so that 30mpg is the minimum average, and working on a national initiative for alternate technologies to oil/gas turbine engines...

8. Because we are better than that
We can get by just fine without drilling in the "Wildlife Refuge". Why do they call it that I wonder and what does "Refuge" mean? We can do much much better with alternative energies and less waste. Improved milage and lower thermostats. We conserve just a little and it would make up everything we could gain from drilling in the "Refuge"

7. Give Bush Credit
Everyone's always talking about politicians that won't stand up for what they believe and who give in too easily.

Bush is in your fce all the time, and he doesn't go away.

You'd think maybe the other side would learn from it.
