Sorry Nader but when you start taking money from right wingers
You have NO right to point the "corporate whore" finger at anyone else.

1. Exactly
Now he's making all these noises about how he is going to return the $$$ to right-wing groups.

Sure. I'll believe that when I see it.

Or isn't the latest by Ford/Firestone bad enough?

3. How much corporate money did Dean take?
When Dean was finally criticizing the big media giants near the end of the primary his number one contributor was media giant AOL/Time Warner, but it has dropped to #2 since then. cough(double standard)cough(hypocrite)cough

5. www.opensecrets.org
See for yourself. Like I wrote, AOL/Time Warner has since dropped to number two, but they were his top contributor through much of the primary.

For all the hype about Dean's grass-roots internet donors (which there were a lot of) he still took his fair share of big corporate cash.

8. BULLSHIT!
The organizations themselves did not donate, rather the money came from the organization's PAC, its individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals' immediate families.

Right, and a big company like AOL/Time Warner has a lot of employees.

Nice try.

9. Excuse me?
You asked for proof and I showed you. That's what it shows. Sorry to shatter your dreams of Dean the anti-corporate warior who supported NAFTA and never lifted a finger for Unions as Governor. Dean had more money than any other candidate, and that means a lot of corporate money too.

11. I said "BULLSHIT".
Edited on Sat Jul-10-04 11:12 PM by LoZoccolo
This is a dumbass far-left shell game. This number reflects, among other things, contributions from employees of said corporations, and a big corporation with many employees can expect to have a big number as a result.

So what corporation do you work for? Happy that any contribution you make stains your candidate with the taint of "corporate cash"?

13. Actually,
I work for a non-profit organization and have never worked in a for-profit corporation since I graduated from college. I probably never will.

It just makes Dean's claim of persecution at the hands of the media giants seem a little hollow when Disney and Time Warner employees gave him so much money.

14. Not all of us have the luxury of working for a non-profit.
And by your logic, if the members of an auto workers union donated to a pro-union candidate, it would all get counted as "corporate cash" from automakers!

Oh hey, look at all this Nader corporate cash!

I wonder if we can find that kind of dirt on Monica Moorehead! PROBABLY!

:eyes: Interestingly enough Dean and Kucinich have the same #1 contributor, U of California employees.

19. I was hard on you. I'm sorry. But...
...this "corporate cash" thing is a canard, and a dangerous one this election. I would rather look at a candidate's record, and I think there's significant differentiation between the two major candidates this election. If it weren't so, then I would expect that neither of these candidates would have this much money thrown at them; if there were no difference, then interested parties would just let the election go because it wouldn't matter who won. But that isn't so this election.

10. P.S. A bunch of people at my work donated to Dean...
...and despite a few of them being millionaires, have a progressive agenda.

12. When Nader stops promoting his book at every opportunity
I'll take him a bit more seriously in his big for the Presidency. As it stands, every time I've seen him he holds it up with as "buy me" so you'll see the light approach. And I do mean EVERY time.

So for those who think Nader is their hero and the answer, I say back away from listening what you are looking to hear and really look at what you are hearing.

16. I hope the right-wing is throwing a lot of money down the Nader rathole
though.

Look at it this way. We can hope they throw all kinds of big buck$ at Ralph the Mouth and that he fails miserably. That would be a win-win, and I am praying for it. I think you should too.
