Is Iran next? WP: Bush language on Iran duplicating Iraq! 4 More Wars?!?!
Bush's War: Is the Draft Next?
By Charles Cutter
Jul 8, 2004, 20:27

Consider the situation: An arrogantly militaristic president. U.S. troop levels stretched to the breaking point. Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge warns of a "large-scale attack on the United States" by al Queda, between now and the November election.
All of which means we’re facing the risk of a sudden, and dramatic, expansion of the "war on terror."

To put it another way: If you have a child who will be fourteen years old in the next few months, they could be on the battlefield before the end of a second Bush term.

-snip-

Iran appears to be the most likely target. It’s part of Mr. Bush’s "axis of evil," so he can’t be accused of "flip-flopping" on his choice of enemies. And here’s Mr. Bush’s recent anti-Iran rhetoric: "The development of a nuclear weapon in Iran is intolerable, and a program is intolerable…they will be dealt with, starting through the United Nations." Sound familiar? According to the Washington Post (4/22/04), "The language reminiscent of comments Bush made about Iraq long before the war…"

Judging by the past, Mr. Bush is under no obligation to prove a connection between Iran and any attack that may occur; he just needs to provide the rhetoric, and let America’s desire for vengeance do the rest.

And let’s not forget that Iran also has…oil.

-snip-

Do you trust George W. Bush with the lives of your children?

3. You're wrong.
If Bush is reselected, he will ask Congress to pass a trigger resolution and the DRAFT will be back by June 15, 2005. The GOPers in Congress already told Rove in a secret meeting on the DRAFT that they would back the President. Bush is currently reducing DRAFT ACTIVATION TIME from 193 days to 75 days by March 31, 2005. The Alternative Service is even being geared up for COs and will be ready to induct after this winter by July 6, 2005. (96 days after March31, 2005).

Read it and weep here: http://www.sss.gov/perfplan_fy2004.html

Then he has MILLIONS of men to draft, as well as women to serve as DRAFTED nurses, linguists, computer experts, etc.

He can invade whatever he wants then, outside of China and Russia. And when the Airborne Laser is operational on 60 747s by 2008 to 2010 he will THINK he can even invade those lands.

7. Unless he turns Iraq into afghanistan
If he wins the election, the motivation to keep Iraq stable dissappears. He can let Iraq break down and move the troops elsewhere, just like he did to afghanistan in order to invade iraq. Add to that the possibility of a draft, it becomes a distinct possibility.

Though i am worried more that the House of Saud will fall and we will end up in Saudi Arabia.

2. I don't think the military brass would allow it to go that far. They know
exactly how stretched we are, I mean they are not getting warm bodies through a back-door draft. Unless there's a full blown national draft, they couldn't attack Tiajuana (sp?) and come out on top.

I am hoping that the American people, no matter how deluded a lot of them are, would wake up to the fact that starting another war with another Middle Eastern country would be totally insane and a danger to this country.

Once we start pulling the fruitcakes from Freeperland into the fray, the ones who are so gung-ho as long as they can sit at a keyboard and display their patriotism, I do believe they would start changing their tune. If they had to actually put their asses on the line, it will be another story.

6. No surprise
My Faux-news watching republican coworker said we need to bomb Iran and Syria. I tried to explain that bombing Iran will only rally the people behind their leaders as opposed to leaving them alone: the Mullahs will be gone in a few years.

Plus, Iran has 3x the population of Iraq and they have been starved with 12 years of sanctions.
