1. If this is true IT WAS ABOUT TIME. I wonder how the vote was split.
Is this the suit presented by the detainees lawyers? I remember it was said that Myers asked for the torture pictures not to be shown by CBS before the justices heard the arguments (I guess he was hoping that without these pictures the decision would be in the government's favor).

5. and the second SC ruling is about holding suspects without trials
and the SC APPROVES that. one ruling seems to negate the other.

6. The USSC has three related cases and this is what seems to have...

happened:

The Hamdi case: The Court ruled that he could be kept without charges yet also said he could challenge that in court, very odd ruling, imo, one part seems to negate the other. It seems to me that, in reality, the USSC punted it down to the lower court to be the ultimate arbitrator.

The Padilla case: CNN says they are not going to hand down a ruling on this so, if I read this correctly, the lower court ruling on Padilla stands and that means bush admin lost this one.

The Gitmo detainee case: The court ruled the detainees do have the right of access to lawyers/courts. A clear defeat for the bush admin on this one.
