So Scott lied this afternoon at his little press briefing, because he told Terry (I don't know his last name, good-looking reporter from NBC, I think). Scott told Terry that Bush okayed the shoot-down. Think any of the press will pick that up?

the first chapter tells the story of what was going on inthe WH on the morning of 9/11. When they all got together in the emergency operation center, one of the first questions was, "Where is the President, and who's with him." The answer was, "He's in Florida, Deb's with him, and we've got an open line to her cell phone." (Deb is the Director of the White House Situation Room. She's military, and why she was traveling with the President that day, I don't know.)

Anyway, this was before the second plane hit, and before Bush went into the elementary school.

Correction: This was after the second plane hit. I just went back and checked the book.

So, they had an open line to Deb, but they couldn't get through to the President, and Cheney had to make the decision to shoot down planes? Right.

This was mentioned in the 9-11 hearing this a.m.... The fact that all calls made aboard AF1 are recorded, BUT, somehow, there is *no record* of calls by * to Cheney after the attacks. One of the commissioners said dryly that 'all we have on this is just the statements of the president and vice president.' Just incredible.

What we are witnessing is the wholesale implosion of the * Administration. Everybody just hang on.
