Should Hillary get a Prime Time solo speaking slot at the Convention?

Granted its from the NY Post, but it still raises an interesting point. Do you think too much Bill and Hillary will distract from Kerry?

CONVENTION WILL PUT CHILL ON HILL
By DEBORAH ORIN - New York Post

June 17, 2004 -- HER husband calls her a "star" — and so do most Democrats — but so far it looks as if Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is being cast in a distinctly supporting role at next month's Democratic convention in Boston.

"There's normally a group of Democratic women senators who appear together and my understanding is that the idea is to have her appear with them," says a Democratic strategist familiar with convention planning.

"She wants her own gig — but the Kerry people don't want that. You can't ignore her, but the idea is that she'll be drowned out by other themes like the woman senators," says another Democrat involved in planning.

1. this is a right wing piece of shit always trying to divide the party
hillary and kerry get along great,e specially since hillary got to the senate and they worked together. and she knew he was going to win at a time when he was lower than sharpton in the polls.

2. Of course she should
Hillary is the only person in history to go from being a First Lady to a U.S. Senator. She is smart, energized and an eloquent speaker for our party. I agree with other posters this is right-wing shit.

7. Hi Ray the Librarian - Welcome
I agree. In January some friends (who really don't like Dean) voiced the idea that it would be better if Dean (then the favorite for the nomination) lost so Hillary could run in 08. While I would rather have a goldfish run the country for the next four year than Prince George, I too wish it was Hillary running now. If Kerry loses, Hillary will take back th eWhitehouse in 08. But I'd rather see her stay ing the senate and become Majority leader in say 2010 after Kennedy retires.

6. Not shit at all
Kerry has a major problem with Bill's book coming out now. Although the polls are in his favor right now, I believe the polls are primarily against Bush, rather than for Kerry. His message and views are having difficulty reaching the moderate dems who don't know him,a nd the indies who will decide this race. Most at DU have gone to Kerry's website and actively looked for stories to read about him. You have already made up your mind, hopefully based upon a thought out and researched review of his positions.
The convention is one of the major sources of info that people get broadcast into their homes, on all the major networks. The event needs to be about getting Kerry into the minds of America and why Kerry is better than Bush (not anybody but Bush). Giving Day one of the event to Bill, Day 2 to the VP and Day 3 to Kerry and family puts the squeeze on Hillary.
