Another rat jumps off : Key Bush Latin America Aide, Otto Reich, resigns
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Otto Reich, who took a hard line against presidents Fidel Castro (news - web sites) in Cuba and Hugo Chavez in Venezuela, resigned as a top adviser to President Bush (news - web sites) on Latin America, officials said on Wednesday.

White House national security adviser Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites) said in a statement that she accepted the resignation of Reich "with regret" and praised his "service to our country and his commitment to a brighter future for the western hemisphere."

Reich said last month he planned to quit for "personal and financial reasons" and that he may join Bush's re-election campaign. Rice's statement did not say what Reich's plans were, but an aide said he planned to return to the private sector.

9. DAMN.
If a war criminal like Reich resigns, there must be something BIG up. I wonder these recent resignations are because Bush is nutso, or if there are some real criminal charges coming down the pike and everyone is trying to steer clear of getting caught up.

14. I would love to see a comparable list for Clinton.
One point I'm thinking of bringing up on my trip back to conservative-land next week is the number of very high level officials who've resigned and become whistle-blowers.

Who in the Clinton Admin at the level of a Richard Clarke or higher bailed out and said "this guy stinks" ?

16. and most of the Clinton resignations
occurred after the first term was completed. but no one (well, except Morris and Stephanopolus) wrote books. And even they didn't tell the world what an ignorant fuck Clinton was.

17. EPA guys ....

That was supposed to be a revolving door in the Bush administration. All those guys are lobbyists for big polluters. They're just taking turns gutting environmental protection.

23. I know you said this is only a partial list (though it's amazing), but
do you mind if I add one name?

Thomas Scully, former Medicare Administrator who quit just ahead of a scandal that may yet catch up with him, and now is making big bucks lobbying for big Pharma. Yech.

20. Adios mother-flogger
His "personal and financial reasons" give me laugher's cramps. Too fucking funny. It is unraveling, more quickly than I anticipated.

That means Cheney is toast. He must go to save the regime. If Powell throws in the towel (good slogan, there), Bu$h might be replaced on the ticket.

21. When Ari Fleischer and Karen Hughes resigned (pretty close in dates)
I told my son: THEY ARE IN THE INNER CIRCLE. They know something really rotten is going to come out. They are getting out while the getting out is still good.

Fleischer still whores for the Bush Crime Family. Also, Karen Hughes may have quit but she still seems to be around quite a bit. Same goes for Carville's wife... what's her name... whatever.

24. Mary Matalin. But they are not there to be questioned, and I think
they want to "bask" in the glory but not take the punches. And Matalin went back when called by her master.

27. Yeats said it best (in "The Second Coming"):
Turning and turning in the widening gyre

The falcon cannot hear the falconer;

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;

Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,

The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere

The ceremony of innocence is drowned;

The best lack all convictions, while the worst

Are full of passionate intensity.

28. Geez......when the Nazis start bailing ya gotta wonder........
further evidence Dr. Rice-a-Roni is insane....praising Reich (great name for the Boo$h's to bandy about) for his "service to our country and his commitment to a brighter future for the western hemisphere."

Personal and financial reasons? Someone must have made him an offer he could further exploit.
