Podesta to answer challenge from Hannity, asks for info.

I just received this in an email update from American Progress. John asked for examples of Hannity "falsehoods". I thought some of you might be able to help him.

In an interview on June 3, American Progress CEO John Podesta said, "I think when you get so distant from the facts, as -- as guys like Limbaugh and Sean Hannity do, yeah, I think that tends to -- it kind of -- it tends to corrupt the dialogue." Apparently he struck a nerve with Fox News' Sean Hannity. Hannity challenged Podesta to "defend and explain one example where I -- where I said something that was so false." Tomorrow, Podesta will appear on Hannity and Colmes, which airs at 9PM on Fox News. If there is a specific Hannity falsehood you think he should mention, send it to [email protected].

Last check on Media Matters, O'Reilly wouldn't respond to Brock wanting to call him on the lies by letting him on the show.

He used to have a watered down version of saying that but now he just flatly says that Dean said that Bush knew. I will try to find the Dean quote about hearing about that theory but rejecting it offhand.

And wondered if Hannity will only sink into the usual name calling, never answering the charges of lies. The usual. Like how he treated Rall. I wrote to PR and suggested that Podesta at least challenge Hannity to a formal debate once the name calling starts.

8. I wouldn't give Insannity the time of day to dispute anything.

He's a waste of anyone's time. He only appeals to the people who will vote the way he tells them to vote. His listeners and viewers are sheep.

He is very handsome, appealing, humorous and charming. Just like Ronald Reagan. These people are more effective in promulgating extreme right wing views than Tom Delay or Newt Gingrich.

Because you don't like his message don't let that blind you to his talent and gifts. About the only guy we've had since Kennedy with this kind of television appeal was Clinton. And he got elected. Twice! His opponents were Bush the elder and Bob Dole. No contest. It was the lack of this in Gore (along with the Supreme Court of course) that cost him the last election. Certainly Bush didn't compare to Gore in brains, experience, integrity, or knowledge. What else did Bush have beside the ability of the press to portray him as "handsome and likable". He won. He shouldn't have come close. The press are trying to portray Kerry the same as they did Gore. It all has very little to do with truth or reality. If it did no Republican would ever get elected.

18. I have never seen him even on TV. What I hear are reports of his

statements and weirdness and the fact he needs a "colmes" to make him shine by comparison turns my stomach. I have seen his picture on book jackets and on his web site (when I have checked the polls).

But I have always made the mistake of choosing my men because of their brains (none of them bad looking, as a matter of fact, some of them were terrific looking...but no brains, no intellectual honesty, no look). And I say mistake because they haven't always been the most faithful men in the world... cases of the roving eye and other parts of the body.


I cannot affect the idiocy of the people that think he is handsome. Look-wise I don't agree. But if you put the real intellect, and real honesty as part of the equation, he goes down like a brick.
Like I say, I cannot affect what other people think. But for my taste I would have a date with Al Franken ANY TIME instead of a date with Hannity.

Insannity. I'm sorry, but there's NOTHING to underestimate about the guy. He's a master propagandist, period, nothing more, nothing less. He appeals to the weak of mind.

...and any number of Kerry mis-statements. This one is not a matter of interpretation...it is simply not true.

I really hope that the Podesta response is devastating, and that he does his homework to come up with crystal clear lies. Shouldn't be too hard. Hannity's pseudo-journalism that offers falsehoods and mis-direction under the guise of information is irresponsible and does a dis-service to his listeners.

It's not hard to find a few lies from Hannity. I hope we're not all relying on someone else to send these in. Yes, it wouldn't be too much to expect someone at American Progress to do the legwork, but just in case...
