did you know that 24 soldiers died last week?
23 in Iraq and 1 in Afghanistan according to THIS WEEK this morning.

I didn't. Now, I confess that I rarely had any news program on because of the ongoing Reagasm but at that rate (appx 25/week) it's going to top 1000 well *before* the conventions.

and if, as * has predicted, things get much worse following the "transfer of empty rhetoric" - it's got to be seriously bad for the 'war' president-who-now-says-he-wants-to-be-the-'peace'-president...

does Kerry *use* the mounting death toll while * tries to hide it?

with the 'war on terra' shown to be a lie, does * have anything left?

3. Who could be worried by such trivia we were worshipping at the
altar of ron. What if you child, husband, brother, uncle, aunt, sister, mom had been killed and nobody noticed. Meanwhile the machine that killed them was throwing a party.

4. And Reagan's death conveniently covered it all up.
Not even a blurb on that stupid ticker running across the bottom of the screen. All Reagan, all the time. They couldn't even cut away for a moment to remind us that we are still at war and that American soldiers are still dying.

5. The only coffin the media would talk about or show
was that of Reagan. I would be furious if someone I loved were among the casualties.

Oh, but we did see over and over again bush* rubbing his hand on the coffin of saint Reagan, hugging Nancy Reagan, attending the funeral service of Ronald Reagan. But the bastard has NO time for the soldiers who died because of his lust for an illegal and unnecessary war.

Kerry should use that against bush*. Anyone with a shred of decency should be outraged by bush's total disrespect for the deaths that he has caused because he was too busy milking a campaign photo op.

6. I have 22 in Iraq, 6 of whom are non-American coalition troops (Polish)
So, 16 Americans killed this MONTH, not last week. I'd like to see where they're getting their figures.

7. the transcript isn't up yet
but, this is the feature where Georgie lists the week's deaths.

I've never heard him report on previous weeks and he only gives the names of those released by the military....

dunno.

21. Who knows? I can't trust anyone's motivations anymore.
Russert asked Powell this morning "Why Americans should believe anything their government tells them" and he didn't have an answer. Same goes for members of the "media."

Sloppy work, exaggeration, cluelessness? The government and the media are morphing into one.

10. "Mission Accomplished" my ass.
Bush is without a doubt the worst thing that ever happened to this country. Just goes to show, if the RNC sets anyone at all up as their flagbearer at convention time the sheepies will surely vote for him wheteher he is qualified or not.

26. Those stories were very sad..
I realized, as I read the story of a "gutter installer in real life", that the National Guard that is injured will have a terrible time ahead. The regular military is treated so much better, and will have lifelong benefits.. I don't think the National Guard will have that kind of support or care later. I've aleadly read of the hardships the injured Guard must indure after they return... the lack of medical care or health insurance. We're abusing our National Guard.

30. Brokaw and Rather said the media was ignoring Iraq and focusing
too much on Reagan early last week but no one paid them too much attention as the nation was so "ga ga" over the never ending saga.

15. IMHO, that's a minimum number...they're not allowing the press...
...to photograph anything, nor are they forthcoming with the actual amount of ongoing combat.

A recent article indicated that the military hospital in Germany has treated 7000 casualties alone...about 3000 more than the TOTAL casualties that the NeoCons are admitting.

How many casualties have been treated in all of the other hospitals?

and there's a HUGE story if we could find a *journalist* to fully uncover the truth about the NUMBERS of wounded, SEVERITY of the injuries, TREATMENT of the soldiers...

and, of course, cutting of benefits by BushCo.

on Friday that they would be doing a segment (this week?) on how the government is hiding the true number of casualties in Iraq. Anyone else see that?

23. No! But I've noticed they barely make the news anymore!
That has been really bothering me A LOT! I notice that the local media, where the soldiers live, will carry it.. but really, no one in the major media is tallying anymore! I guess the White House got to to the media. I KNOW that they've been pressuring them to give GOOD NEWS! from Iraq. Iraqi went from a cultured, middle class, moderate country to a murdersous cesspool in one year. Saddam was a bad ass, but this is much worse. Saddam could have been dealt with in other ways.. affecting only Saddam and his inner circle. Instead we have ruined the lives of most everyone in Iraq. Literally.

c'mon, nobody wants to hear BAD news anymore!

Bad news is so ...... March!

Haven't you gotten the memo? We want good news now, just good news, none of this "America might be a shitty country" news, just "hey, remember Reagan, the guy who made us feel good about ourselves while we committed atrocities in South America and threatened the world with nuclear annihilation?"
