Aides had said Kerry wanted to take a quiet stroll after arriving in the city to celebrate his daughter's graduation from film school, but his walk was anything but.

Vehicles were backed up throughout Kerry's hourlong jaunt because of his entourage - a motorcade of law enforcement vehicles trailing him, eight agents on foot, reporters and campaign staffers. Kerry waved, smiled and gave the thumbs-up signs as horns honked and people yelled various versions of "Get Bush out of here" and "We're voting for you."
