1. Well, considering bush senior tried to have her husband killed, one MIGHT
consider there could possibly be a WEE bit of animosity there, to start with..

30. What it does show is there are
social and political connections between the Hinkley and Bush family. Doesn't prove Bush was behind the assassination attempt of Reagan.

But the title of the thread was why Nancy hates Bush. These messages are branched from message 1 that says maybe Nancy suspects Bush of being behind the assassination attempt.

You wanted a link to the suspicions, there it is. Now you say it doesn't prove the assassination attempt. Your right. But thats not what you wanted before. What you wanted was a link that would show why Nancy would suspect Bush.

Are you saying there are no reasons to SUSPECT the Bush's being behind the assassination attempt?

Well, there is motive, method and opportunity. But only circumstantial evidence. If there was PROOF, then Bush would be in jail.

24. This may be a familiar source:
Bush Son Had Dinner Plans With Hinckley Brother Before Shooting

The Associated Press
Domestic News
March 31, 1981, Tuesday, PM cycle

HOUSTON -- The family of the man charged with trying to assassinate President Reagan is acquainted with the family of Vice President George Bush and had made large contributions to his political campaign, the Houston Post reported today.

The newspaper said in a copyright story, Scott Hinckley, brother of John W. Hinckley Jr., who allegedly shot Reagan, was to have dined tonight in Denver at the home of Neil Bush, one of the vice president's sons.

The newspaper said it was unable to reach Scott Hinckley, vice president of his father's Denver-based firm, Vanderbilt Energy Corp., for comment. Neil Bush lives in Denver, where he works for Standard Oil Co. of Indiana.

In 1978, Neil served as campaign manager for his brother, George W. Bush, the vice president's oldest son, who made an unsuccessful bid for Congress. Neil lived in Lubbock throughout much of 1978, where John Hinckley lived from 1974 through 1980.

On Monday, Neil Bush said he did not know if he had ever met 25-year-old John Hinckley.

38. tarpley.net has the unauthorized bio on bush senior which is VERY
illuminating.

Over several years I've continued to find it to be an accurate and insightful source into the mind meld of the bush regime, father and son, and relentlessly dead on the mark.

Because Bush and his CIA flunkies fucked up the Iran arms deals and got caught, and Ron looked like an idiot. Yes, he really was an idiot, but Bush is the one who fucked up and Nancy knows it.

loyal friends? ALmost like family? Or is it a business relationship?

Or would you suggest that reagan's referring to bush as a "little jerk" at one point was merely a kid's prank?

9. stem cell research
nancy reagan was many things.... most of them bad... but she WAS in love with her husband.
I believe that she softened up as her husband disappeared into that horrible disease and saw the misery that others live with everyday to one degree or another.
I believe that she saw the bushes as standing in the way of the only thing that could have given her more precious time..... I would hate them for that too.

12. I'm beginning to wonder about that, myself
I've always been under the impression that the Reagan's disliked the Bush family. And Ron Jr. has been extremely vocal about his resentment of W's attempt to use his father. HOWEVER - on some Sunday news program (don't remember - or care - which one) some sycophant mentioned repeatedly that W and "Mrs. Reagan" are, and I quote, "Close". He said that several times. It struck me as total propaganda, of course, but I've never heard anything from Nancy herself, so what does one assume? Silence is, after all, an endorsement. For the record, I don't care for Nancy, either. And how many people care what Ron Jr. thinks? I do, but I'm not "undecided".

21. You're right -- it's a 'class' issue. There was a little dust-up
When Bush was inaugurated in 1988; apparently, the Reagans weren't moving out as fast as Bar wanted them to, so she whipped off a 'why aren't you out of there by now?' letter to somebody (I can't remember now if it was directly to Nancy or to somebody like Reagan's chief of staff). It made the press, and Nancy let it be known she thought they had no class.

Also, has anybody seen any Reagan other than Michael say anything positive about any of the Bushes since 1988? I don't watch television news, but I'd think somewhere along the line one of them might have managed to pull her into a photo op of some kind, if she really thought much of any of them.

It was all about appearances, and Nancy -- for better or worse -- thought she and Ron were better than the Bush family. They certainly were better at acting the part, I'll give her that. They put on a statesmanlike show, whatever you believe about what actually happened in the '80s. They didn't provide an international embarrassment by looking like diplomatic duties and appearances were painful.

Eh -- maybe she's forgiven them the slight over moving into the White House, but even if she has, I don't see her letting herself be used as a campaign photo op for Shrub. She's got way too much pride for that, regardless how she may feel. My 2¢, anyway.

32. Nancy is the one who made remarks about the Carters
saying she wished they'd move out early so she could redecorate and have everything in place when the Reagans moved in. When she was called on this by the media, she said she only meant that "as if by magic" she could get a head start on her redecorating.

41. Guess you're right --
I could've sworn there was some kind of sniping over class/social appearance issues from Nancy around the changing of the guard in '88, but I can't find anything on the 'Net about it right now. Thanks -- I'm never surprised to hear that any Republican has said anything nasty about any member of the Carter family!

The Corruption of Ronald Reagan

Copyright © 1986, 1989, 1999 by Dan E. Moldea

President Bill Clinton’s enemies love to make much of his Hollywood connections, as well as his testimony before a federal grand jury and an odd land deal in which he and his wife lost money.

Yet, they refuse to compare the Clinton record with the case history of Ronald Reagan, whom most Clinton-haters continue to worship and attempt to canonize.

Once again, the President’s harsh critics continue to demonstrate that they have two conflicting standards for public officials: one for those they like and another for those they don’t like.

For instance, consider the following:

Ronald Reagan was an invention of the Hollywood conglomerate, MCA, which was founded in 1924 by Jules Stein, a Chicago ophthalmologist who quickly became friendly with the local underworld. Every facet of Reagan’s life, from his careers in acting and politics to his financial successes, were directed by MCA, which, with the help of the Mafia, was the most powerful force in Hollywood from the mid-1940s until the Bronfman family purchased the company in 1995.

family that didn't care for the Reagan family. They always thought the Reagans were odd because they never spend anytime with their children. (HA) I also don't remember Nancy coming out in support of Daddy Bush or Baby Bush. She didn't because she doesn't.

Proof..ah no, I read it years ago.

Worse still, she referred to him as the "village idiot". (One must assume that the other idiots in the "village" were also named Bush.)

She later denied it, of course.

31. Here's one great link-Salon and Ronnie Jr
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2003/04/14/ron_reagan/index.html

Reagan's parents were notoriously remote from their four children. Ron Jr. reportedly had the closest relations with his parents and he remains close with his mother, Nancy Reagan, who as the keeper of the Reagan flame is often called upon to dedicate public sites bearing her husband's name. Reagan says his mother shares his "distrust of some of these people. She gets that they're trouble in all kinds of ways. She doesn't like their religious fervor, their aggression."

Reagan says his family feels particularly alienated from the Republican Party over its opposition to embryonic stem cell research, which could have significant benefit for Alzheimer patients like his father.
