Eureka...of course...it was POWELL!
Just yesterday, I think, I read a story on DU about Powell being livid about his reputation in the world being besmirched by being sent in front of the UN with bogus intel. It said Powell was out for blood, and "wanted name, rank and serial numbers" of anyone involved.

And today, Tenent is gone.

Bush can't fire anybody, he is powerless. But the REAL players in DC, the ones who've been there for years, like Powell...hmmmmmmm

1. I'd be lying if I said I had a good idea of how this White House works

Your theory is as plausible as almost any other at this point--every time I have a model that I believe explains things, something happens to contradict it.

They turn mysteriously, randomly evil.

4. Powell has credibility in the media, since his son is FCC Chair
Edited on Thu Jun-03-04 11:09 PM by Alerter_
The Corporate Media loves Powell since his son regulates them. Who knows? I could see McCain/Powell after Bush resigns in disgrace, and that would be a formidable challenge (unlike Bush, who will give Kerry a historic landslide without Kerry lifting a finger).

I'd watch out for McCain, Powell, Guiliani, and the old-timers. The neo-cons are over. At least, if after all this, the neo-cons aren't over, we're in more trouble than I ever thought possible.

Being the Dem nominee is tough, but I think Kerry can handle it. I expect a 45-5 state landslide for Kerry.

5. I think Powell is one of the most likely to escape with his political skin
He is far more articulate and likeable than the rest, though he is a snake and culpable for this mess as few others can be.

3. If Powell were the real power in DC he wouldn't have gone to the UN
with intelligence he most have suspected as bogus. And even if he believed it, if he were powerful, the CIA wouldn't have set him up like that.
