Did Tenet and Pavitt testify against Bush in Plame Grand Jury?

Bush Knew About Leak of CIA Operative's Name
By Staff and Wire Reports
Jun 3, 2004, 05:28

Witnesses told a federal grand jury President George W. Bush knew about, and took no action to stop, the release of a covert CIA operative's name to a journalist in an attempt to discredit her husband, a critic of administration policy in Iraq.

Their damning testimony has prompted Bush to contact an outside lawyer for legal advice because evidence increasingly points to his involvement in the leak of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame's name to syndicated columnist Robert Novak.

The move suggests the president anticipates being questioned by prosecutors. Sources say grand jury witnesses have implicated the President and his top advisor, Karl Rove.

He confirmed that Bush had contacted Washington attorney Jim Sharp. "In the event the president needs his advice, I expect he probably would retain him," McClellan said. There is no indication Bush has been questioned yet.

A federal grand jury has questioned numerous White House and administration officials to learn who leaked the name of CIA operative Plame, wife of former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, to the news media. Wilson has charged that officials made the disclosure in an effort to discredit him.

James Pavitt was Plames boss.
MAYBE PAVITT AND TENET WE'RE THE WITNESSES THAT GAVE BUSH UP? We can dream can't we?

23. Plame was an "operative" -- reported to the DDO

I'll bet Fitzgerald has had Pavitt testify to the grand jury.

Pavitt: "The only people in the White House authorized to know about Miss Plame's true identity were Feith, Rice, Cheney and Bush."

Fitzgerald: "Thank you very much, Mr. Pavitt; we'll be in touch."

I'm with sniggles' view, personally.

9. many thanks, VolJ, for the props ...

... I connected "director of operations" and "covert operative" immediately and, voila!

It's pure speculation. But now I'm truly curious about who from CIA, if anyone, Fitzgerald has talked to, formally or otherwise. He'd obviously want to know who had authorization, right?

An aside: Does anyone remember the Clifford May (in National Review) bullshit about how "everyone in town" already knew who Plame was?

12. Who could forget Cliff May's smear piece?
Oh, God, at the time, it absolutely made my blood boil!!

http://www.nationalreview.com/may/may200309291022.asp

It's the top story in the Washington Post this morning as well as in many other media outlets. Who leaked the fact that the wife of Joseph C. Wilson IV worked for the CIA?

What also might be worth asking: "Who didn't know?"

7. It is not a mere "coincidence" that bush lawyered up yesterday...
and then Tenet and Pavitt resign today. The big connection has to be the upcoming indictments from the grand jury on the Plame outrage, imo. It is the only thing that makes sense. 9/11 would have been the catalyst if the resignation had occurred months ago, it doesn't compute now. "I serve at the pleasure of the President" cannot be adhered to when you are called before a grand jury and your testimony is either lie for the President or tell the truth. If you tell the truth you can no longer "serve at the pleasure of the President", it is an inherent conflict of interest so, having testified, they would have no other recourse than to resign. That's my take, anyway.

26. Quiet? Not Cheney...
The media has just caught on that he's a raving madman, and they don't cover his repetition of the same untruths about Iraq and the War on Terror.

His most recent bout of lying:

"In Iraq, we took another essential step in the war on terror. With a coalition of many nations, the United States rid the Iraqi people of a murderous dictator and rid the world of a gathering threat to our peace and security."

His speech is full of little nuggets like that.

14. No link really needed for that connection
Pavitt was the DDO. The DDO is in charge of covert operatives. Plame was a covert operative. Ergo, Pavitt was Plame's boss.

They're all in the dark on this.

Tweety, Fineman, all of them. It's looking simple.

Tenet and Pavitt could not lie under oath to cover the WH. They told the truth or knew they would have to tell the truth, and thus the resignations.

20. Is there anyway to find out the names of who's testified so far.
I was reading that they usually try to get the journalists in last. If that's true then they might all most be finished.

21. It seems to me all indicators are that the grand jury has wrapped up...
regarding testimony and indictments are coming down very soon. The fact that NOTHING leaked with regard to this grand jury says to me there is some serious indictments are on the way and they lead all the way to the top.
