So--was Tenent working for or against Bush???
I'm wondering if he got shown the door because the regime has been digging around to see who the hell is bringing them down bit by bit (i.e., prison abuse, Plame, and other assorted problems, leaks, testimony)and found it is coming from Tenent and the CIA; thus sending a message to all CIA to stop messing around with George you know, the message they tried to send when the outted Plame?). OR, some people have mentioned for a few years that Tenent was kept on and Bush always praising him, etc. because Tenent knew things about George. Maybe now George has things on Tenent that could get him put in prison; and thus, the standoff has ended. Or maybe Tenent was a loyal servent and just had some real family problems (psssst--have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you). OR, maybe Tenent can now more freely and effectively go after Bush in public and has been working with the Democrats (who knows, maybe our Dems in the last four years haven't been just sitting around doing nothing).

1. I just think Tenet is a fool
The CIA has been one giant clusterfuck since he got there. I don't care if he is a Dem, Repub, or whatever. I just am glad he is gone.

14. Exactly!
Tenet is a fool. He was used by Cheney and Bush* like a cheap floor mop. Whatever they wanted, he produced. Whenever the truth was revealed, he meekly accepted the blame. Tenet made the CIA the whipping boy for the lies and deceit of the neo-con-men.

Now that Colon Bowel is trying to pin his UN bullshit show on the CIA, Tenet finally has had enough.

But, Tenet is such an ignorant fool that he will no doubt praise Bush* right through the election. He'll let the agency continue to get smeared, but he won't have to be there to mount a phony mea culpa.

3. CNN - Tenet timing not for personal reasons (Stansfield Turner)
Says he thinks Tenet is being pushed out and scapegoated by Bush. That Bush is trying to make it look like someone is being held responsible. Also says Tenet is probably not happy with Bush.

(So now will it be Clinton's fault because he originally appointed Tenet?)

5. librul--yes, that's was my initial reaction, too
He's been being pressured to "fire someone"--now they will let it sneak out throw "WH sources report" that a furious Commander in Chief requested his resignation.

11. But i think that Tenet has worked
for Dim-son longer than he worked for Clinton. If Tenet sucked that surely he would have been canned a couple of years ago.

4. I think he's an extreme loyalist who finally had a bellyful
Not only that, but when Chalabi was raided, the military and CIA in Iraq did it without his knowledge or approval. He knows the CIA members are furious over the Plame leak and the cherrypicking of intelligence around Iraq. He knows they'll be in full revolt soon, and doesn't want to be around to get blamed for more of it.

He's fallen on his sword so many times for Bushco that he no longer casts a shadow.

He needed to go a long time ago. His replacement will probably be even worse.

8. Did Tenent testify before the Plame grand jury?
Maybe he testified truthfully, or plans to, that alone would sink the ship.

It is strange that this story came less than 24 hours after * gets himself a lawyer.
