What is the most outrageous conspiracy theory
You fellow DU'ers have read or heard about?

I will admit, I tend to read allot of different conspiracy theories - particularily these days of upheaval in international affairs. The skull and bones, the trilateral commission, shadow government, PNAC, etc.....I find it all interesting.

The most "out of this world" theory to date that I have read is that GWB rushed into Iraq, not because of WMD, terrorism, or oil, but rather to gain control of a "stargate". Apparently there is a memo that was shredded and reconstituted that has Majic12 eyes only and was signed by GWBjr.
It gets even more convoluted as, apparently the US has signed a treaty with aliens....and this treaty is supposed to expire in 2005. This is one of the reasons why control of the stargate was so crucial.

Well, fellow DU'ers, what are some other rather "fringe" conspiracies you have read or heard about?

1. That there are no conspiracies
This is the biggest conspiracy of them all.

Be afraid.

3. The one about 19 arabs hijacking 4 passenger planes
and eluding the most powerful air defenses in the world, then exhibiting incredibly accurate and expert piloting, flying three of the planes into perfect strategic points on three of the most famous buildings in the country.

You'd have to be deep in delusional denial to believe that one.

14. flying on the airlines
to believe that foriegners took oer the planes with little or no resistance is strange.
how did they get into the airport with false id badges.
and if the badges were stolen then why has no report be seen showing that the people who lost them said that they were missing?
does not make since. i think we as a people were dupped and setup. the most intresting thing i saw was a sign that said" Did 9/11 fool you?"

15. Thank God people are coming around on this
There was a time when even the people of DU believed that one.
I am MIHOP all the way. Any other explanation requires
a more convoluted path than that of the magic bullet that killed President John F. Kennedy.

Conspiracy theories involving Bush usually turn out to
be weak versions of the horrible truth.

6. The most outrageous conspiracy out there.
Edited on Tue Jun-01-04 01:13 PM by AntiCoup2k
An old man in a cave in Afghanistan, probably on kidney dialysis, masterminded a perfectly timed brilliantly executed terrorist attack upon the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

You would have to be a real sap to buy that one.

On edit: Looks like three of us had about the same idea at the same time ;)

8. The most outrageous one I've ever heard was...
...that the Holocaust never happened and was instead an invention of the liberal media to get the world to feel sorry for Jews. <eyeroll>

Some nutjob wrote an entire book on this. I was tempted to check it out from the library but decided it was too embarrassing to have the library clerks see me with it.

13. LBJ killed JFK
why would a liberal President kill his boss when this same man instituted so many liberal policies that helped millions of people.

Many of these like civil rights legislation came with substantial political risk for both him and his party. If LBJ was always a political pragmatists then wouldn't he be a Clintonian centrist not a social liberal?

If you believed that he suffered from a compartmentalized mind is this what allowed him to escalate Vietnam and remain sane?

22. One of my coworkers, who see's ghosts and UFO's, talks of Stargate
and the underground world that exists. One that she had been to while serving in the US Army. A world with roads and elevator shafts that aid jeeps and trucks to carry materials to other parts of the planet.
Another one of her claims is that bu$h took a crystal pendant from Saddam, that allows time travel, and he now can go back and forward in time to gain power and wisdom.
Oh, did I mention that she is a follower of Art Bell?

That Karl Rove set up Kobe Bryant in order to create a media distraction during an election year and drive a wedge between women and African-Americans.

It's basically Willie Horton combined with OJ. How convenient.

25. But, you know...
They'll set up anything to keep the general public's minds off of the truth. They may even pay some folks, you never know...

All that needs to happen is someone saying something (publicly) about "n----rs" in (regards to) either the Michael Jackson or Kobe Bryant trials, and I'll bet you anything the stupid fuckin tabloid-hungry public is going far, far away from Bush, Iraq etc.
