* Admin Admits Killing 30,000+ Iraqis
Ted Rall:

"The psycho right bloggers, unwilling to acknowledge that information exists offline, keep asking where people like me come up with the figure that we killed at least 30,000 Iraqis during the war. The answer is: Bob Woodward. In his book "Plan of Attack," he quotes Bush Administration sources as saying that we killed that many Iraqis during the first few weeks of war. Obviously that figure has since risen. Since I like to keep my statistics on the conservative side, however, I use the official Pentagon figure of 30,000."

1. If 30,000 is the "official" figure
Then you know that its really 3 - 5 times higher.

2. yup. and it rises every day
We've been in a virtual news blackout about what's going on in Najaf and other places in the last couple of weeks. We keep getting these vague reports of "heavy fighting" and Iraqis being killed, they're always referred to as "insurgents" of course. But we know they aren't.

Here's one of the "insurgents" in Fallujah.

Presumably, her parents, who were both killed by us, might be buried here:

3. um . . . isn't invading a sovereign country under false pretenses . . .
and killing 30,000+ of its citizens a war crime, or a crime against humanity, or something? . . . shouldn't the people whe perpetrated this crime be tried and punished? . . . just wonderin' . . .

7. I think the way it works is someone goes after the people
who are under the leader who has done the attacking.

But many believe Bush is keeping us "safe".

Go figure.

4. Damn!
I was wondering yesterday how many Iraqis had died and said to my son it's got to be up around twenty or thirty thousand. Boy, was I off.

Didn't Bush say in his radio address yesterday that 50 million souls are now living in freedom? Maybe that's why he said souls - because a lot of them are dead. What was the population of Iraq when we attacked?

5. 30,000 in the first few weeks
how many since the first few weeks?

50,000 easy, probably closer to 75,000.
