Don't you just love Fundie forwards.
Read this shit some fundie forwarded me. I'm thinking about writing a rebuttal. If anyone wants to give me any idea I would appreciate it.

Sudanese Boy 'crucified' for Christian faith

Damare, a small Sudanese boy was taken as a slave and forced to tend camels after his village was attacked by radical Muslims. One day Damare, who had been raised in a Christian home, snuck away from his master to attend a church service. When he returned, his Muslim master was waiting for him and accused of committing a deadly act, "meeting with infidels." The master then dragged Damare into a field where he nailed his feet and knees into a large board while the boy cried out in agony.
Damare was miraculously rescued and has told The Voice of the Martyrs that just as Jesus was nailed and forgave, he forgives also. What bold faith from a simple Sudanese boy!
If you want to know what's really going on in over 40 countries where Christians are facing persecution, subscribe to The Voice of the Martyrs FREE monthly newsletter. This award-wining newsletter is sure to inspire and challenge like no other.

Sincerely,
Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman

1. Rebuttal:
If you're so fucking convinced about genocide, how about doing something about it rather than engaging in elective wars in the Middle East?

Africa's been falling to pieces, but the right-wing's obsession with being the anti-Clinton means that they refuse to engage in any sort of real humanitarian intervention.

I'm also on the AFA's mailing list.

I like to keep my friends close, and my enemies closer.

They were trying to ban T shirts with the word, "FCUK" the other week.

6. This is what the Fundies have to do to survive
Edited on Sat May-29-04 05:04 PM by DaveSZ
This is how the FUndies operate.

They are headed by a few (or many) nutty preachers who convince them that America was founded as a "Christian nation."

Then, they convince their sheep that everyone is trying to persecute them, and so they must fight back and create a theocracy.

This letter is part and parcel of creating the persecution complex.

7. They also like Bush
The person who sent LostInAnomie the original email is probably a fan of Bush. LostInAnomie could email this person back describing how the original story is such a sad story and how it is really a shame that Bush has decided to lift the arms embargo against a nation that persecutes and enslaves Christians.

5. Ah it's the old
aren't we so horribly persecuted as Christians thing.

I'm a Christian but I don't go around claiming to be horribly persecuted against.

A fun thing to do is search snopes. They specifically have a section for forwarded emails. It would be cool to find that, find it is an urban legend or unfounded and then just hit reply all and send on that link to snopes.

I've done it myself.

8. How inspiring

Post back all the pictures you can find in regard to the torture
scandals

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/IMAGES/POWABUSE/index.html
http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/torture_pow.html

OK OK, maybe that's a bit rough
--------------------

You know, it's horrible if that had happened, but think about it. We are FORCED to look at everything on a large scale by the Bush administration.....and then they come up with THAT small stuff, which most likely isn't even TRUE.

My personal experience with Moslums is very good, not all good, but generally good. I come from a country where there's already a more mixed culture and acceptence of these different believes.

Actually a republican doesn't respond to me anymore, and that was only for criticizing the Bush-administration - weird, very weird people, they could not accept my statements (all backed up with resources....that was even scarier).

It's about shifting attention, it's a way for them justifying what has been done *since they voted for .*, I don't think there is a remedy for these things, or a good reply that would hit base. It's good practice to read the bible *preferably* Matthew, there are many things in there that are applicable on todays events. They know the bible *and I must admit I'm just a beginner as well*, but interestingly or not, the Bible is interpretted in many different ways by people (at least as far as I have encountered)

Give them some space to breath, don't go in full attack (I know it's so damn tempting), but allow them to change and don't tie them down in their own stupid position), most people are reasonable, it takes lots of time and attention.

I guess the way I would reply is this:

I found it horrible to read about this, but I'm having a problem trying to understand what the relation with this incident has with anything though? This is one isolated incident without any references (so I cannot see whether or not this is true of false), could you send me a link where this story is backed up by?
Also I'm sure that this one horrific event of that young boy doesn't represents all Moslum people. So we should be careful with this. Just like we don't want to be drawn up like torturers eventhough some American people have done so in the Prisons in Iraq
(SLAM1+2)
While I'm typing you an email anyway, why not share some links and resources with you. I've found some interesting information in regard to todays events, finally the truth!!!, you should really read this and tell me what you think about it:

Post some good backed up stuff (I dunno, take some links from DU or www.whatreallyhappened.com)
(SLAM3)

Take Care,

--------------
Good luck

9. Oh how sweet.
A nice little hate parable for the children. Probably one of thousands of sadistic little christ fantasies some Armageddon-lover is compiling somewhere.

12. EVIL EVIL EVIL
I love it!

At my office, there are loads of fundies (and one Christian who is a peace march anti bush organizer! go girl!)
Anyway, plenty of office doors with "ask me about jesus" on them, but the one that really drives me up a wall is a HUGE poster with a dramatic photo of a black man praying on bended knee, a HUGE cross and the white house in the background, with the words: "The Freedom To Pray"
Gee, wonder how they'd feel about MY freedom if I put up Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo
on my door?

14. That black guy praying on bended knee is probably

a Floridian praying that his name won't be deleted from the voter rolls, that the state police won't stop him from reaching the polls on November 2, and that the Democrats take back this country from the Bushistas.
