What should Kerry do about our border security ( re: Canada & Mexico)?
Edited on Fri May-28-04 09:32 PM by DaveSZ
I'm sympathetic to the plight of immigrants wanting to come to America to find a better life, and my great grandfather was an immigrant who worked on the railroads.

However, I'm worried that our borders are so porous that any Al Qaeda or other terror operatives can gain access to our country to do us harm.

What steps should we take to help reduce this threat to our security?

1. Legal immigration is what built this country
illegal immigration is what is destroying it.

2. Short of building a wall the full
lengths of the north and south border, there isn't any way to keep people from walking across anyplace, especially the long Canadian border. With that said, walls can also keep people in as well as out, remember the Berlin Wall? I think about the best we can do is better border patrols and deport anyone who is found to enter the country illegally.

4. That Canadian border -
it bothers me all the time. How do we make sure that we keep them and those Mexican runners out. The National Guard is the only answer I can this of ......

3. If Kerry promotes a strong border-defense policy, historical landslide
All Kerry has to do is tighten immigration, border security, and respect Second Amendment gun rights and Kerry will win in a historic landslide, two terms, and get a whole section in the history books. He's smart enough and strong enough to do it if he wants to.

5. Hire my deadbeat cousin, Todd and give him a tranquilizer gun
And show him the border (either one), tell him it's his new "beat," and say, "Good luck."

It would solve so many problems... At least in my family. What? National security? Oh... Never mind.

6. I don't see a problem with the Canadia boarder.
The Canadians have decent police and immigration. I would be far more worried about Mexico.

7. Line up all the Republicans ...
Line up all the Republicans at the border, have them hold hands and play an international game of Red Rover ; - )

Only problem with that is if they let anybody through, we all know who'd they blame THAT on!
