the only issues that are changing reTHUGlicans votes....

this is from tonight's Kerry meet-up, reporting from Virginia (reTHUGlican territory).....

during our meeting tonight, long-time activists working in the heart of reTHUGlican territory....here was the consensus...the TWO issues that are making a difference to reTHUGlicans, and moving them into the Kerry camp...

1. the huge mess that bush* has done in Iraq.

2. the bush* economic disaster.

although many other issues were discussed (USAPATRIOT act, etc.)....all the other issues were determined to be way too complex for the 'little-bitty' minds of reTHUGlicans....actual grass-roots results of conversions to Kerry only work with the above TWO issues...perhaps this can help others dealing with total reTHUGlican neighborhoods...and here, we are making lots of progress...we believe that KERRY WILL WIN VIRGINIA, with our hard work....

....although we are making huge progress in voter registration drives, and conversions of independents and normal reTHUGlicans, as opposed to religiously-insane radical-right-wing reTHUGlicans - we have still made little or no progress with young draft-aged voters....tonight...THREE young draft-aged people showed up, in a meeting of about 100 people....all three right away got jobs, and possibly careers, and are off onto our Kerry road trips....but there should be many more that might STAND UP and make a little effort...we can hardly get any to even register to vote, despite setting up voter registration booths at college campuses, nightclubs, shopping malls...young draft-age people say: 'no, it's not for me', "I don't vote", "why vote", "I won't" "I don't care", etc....the youth keep saying that the only thing that would motivate them to vote would be the draft, and so, now, many older people are really listening to that desire of our youth and really wanting the draft to start soon....one old WWII guy said the draft should start ASAP, so that these youth show more enthusiasm for voting...

1. a populist economic, anti-war campaign
would give Kerry a a landslide win, and we could pick up Congress too. Can Kerry pull it off?

2. it's not anti-war to the reTHUGlicans...the issue is more that bush*

couldn't even run a decent WAR against a third-world country, a country with no airforce and no navy, and an army that ran away....

that is the issue....the reTHUGlicans change to Kerry because they think he can run a good war....where bush* couldn't even do that...

the bigger picture is that Kerry NEVER would have taken us into this stupid bush* war....and Kerry will quickly remove our soldiers when he becomes President....

but rush-limbaugh-brainwashed reTHUGlicans are very simple-minded....that was the BIG concept that came out of tonights Kerry meet-up....you must KEEP IT SIMPLE with these people....real simple...and what these reTHUGlicans are seeing on their TV's every night is young soldiers KILLED, explosions, burning cities, etc., and slowly, they have begun to realize that bush* really mess this whole Iraq war up badly...real bad...

3. Perhaps the reTHUGS will wake up and see the connection
between the war and the economic disaster to come. In other words, tax cuts + war = possible world war and depression, simultaneously.

It's a real shame they can't realize that both (war and the tax cuts) were totally unnecessary as well as based on false premises.

IMHO, Democrats are much better able to connect the dots and see the connections - the REAL ones - better than reTHUGS. The only one they can see is a false one - 9/11 and Iraq. But if they can be shown that tax cuts for the wealthy is a costly sham and that war is the ultimate waste of humanity and that it adversely affects THEM and their OFFSPRING, maybe there's hope.

Even if those folks don't become Democrats, it's not a good thing that we have so many people in our country believing so many falsehoods and not knowing the truth about things, because they just continue to propagate it. That's one of the legacies left by these neocons, going even further back than Newt.
