Watchdog Group Report: Most NPR Sources are Conservative
by Peter Goodman

Despite a perception that National Public Radio is politically liberal, the majority of its sources are actually Republicans and conservatives, according to a survey released today by Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, a left-leaning media watchdog.

"Republicans not only had a substantial partisan edge," according to a report accompanying the survey, "individual Republicans were NPR's most popular sources overall, taking the top seven spots in frequency of appearance." In addition, representatives of right-of-center think tanks outnumbered their leftist counterparts by more than four to one, FAIR reported.

1. Who here watches The News Hour on PBS?
I do and I love it. As for whether or not it's sources are conservative, yeah, I guess so, but they don't claim to be a liberal show, just an in depth news show and less biased than the corporate media outlets. In most cases, their sources are either experts in the field or somehow directly related to the issue at hand.

I started noticing a shift to the right in the mid 90's. My interpretation is that it's a deal with the devil to stay in existence. I thought once the pugs got both houses of congress and the white house, that public TV and radio were history. There's probably a reason that we don't hear daily attacks directed at Public Broadcasting like we did under Gingrich.

But, to give PBS the benefit of doubt, we do have conservatives in power, and most of the rest of the country is more conservative than we are here at DU. The main question rests with integrity, and I think PBS has it.

2. What happened to Jim Lehrer?
I haven't seen him on his own show since the Abu shrub-f#ck story hit. I'm worried that he has been sacked or killed or something. (I wouldn't put anyting past these @ssholes) Anyone know what's going on with his show? Is he sick or something?
