Gave Bush's Speech an F

Said Bush will LOSE and it started LAST NIGHT

Said "Most important speech of Bush's life and he used it to LIE to America" (well, even RWers can wake up if not late)

POUNDING Bush*

even making sick fun of his 'strut'

4. And it only took them three and a half...
...fucking years and a quagmire in Iraq to find that conscience.

5. Don't give them too much credit.
A real opportunist can smell which way the wind is blowing. And right now they smell the sweet, pure air of a Democratic Sweep.

10. No - no conscience
the pundits and journalists have contributed to the loss of thousands of lives. I refuse to forgive them for their complicity.

24. Conscience? I wouldn't go quite that far. But
Edited on Tue May-25-04 03:25 PM by calimary
it's something worthwhile to hope for, and wonders never cease, do they?

It might just be that the more shrewd among them (maybe this guy is one, dunno - never heard him on the air) have realized the wind has changed and they'll have to change with it if they're to stay on the air, command all the high ratings, exposure, salary, revenue for their station/network/syndicator, and all the perks like the newspaper columns and appearances on the Pox network and Talkers Magazine and everything that comes with a consistently high profile.

It COULD certainly be that this guy finally HAS grown a conscience, or maybe unearthed it from a few dozen layers of sediment, and knows a fishy smell when he smells one. Maybe he knows he's hitched his wagon to a stone (a rock? Iraq?) and he doesn't want to go down with the rest of 'em.

But he could also be angry at bush because he's afraid bush is about to screw the pooch and there goes his precious White House and the majorities for his adored brethren in the House and Senate. Could be he's just angry because he feels betrayed. I bet a LOT of neocons are feeling that way - that bush botched it just as they were reaching the summit. If he loses, their Middle East conquest/crusade plans are set back by a factor of years. Maybe a LOT of years, if he loses and he and his are thoroughly discredited, and/or Kerry wins in a landslide. That sin is almost unforgivable to many of these people. I mean, consider what a persona non grata bush's dad turned out to be after he LOST to Clinton. He was suddenly no longer the Reagan heir-apparent, and new standard-bearer and replacement quarterback, but a big, fat, pathetic, stinking LOSER instead. He cost them the White House. For TWO TERMS! He wasn't a speaker at their subsequent National Conventions. He wasn't a welcome addition to anybody's salon, and he faded away for a long time. He wasn't even invited to any network or major newspaper or news magazine as a special contributor or guest editor or guest commentator. He got sent to the cornfield. It's only because of his misbegotten son that he's been even partially redeemed in the eyes of his party.

bush senior was also a LOSER and a SPOILER, in that, if you recall, it was either Joe Wilson or Richard Clarke or maybe even John Dean who wrote that the rummys and cheneys of this term arrived back in power in January 2001 with the attitude of: Unfinished business. Back after an eight-year postponement/interruption. Back to pick up where we left off almost a decade ago. Gotta make up for lost time, lots of catching up to do. It's because they felt they had unfinished business (this shit we're living through now) to see to, that they weren't able to play out all the way, because that damned Clinton had the gall to interrupt them! He was therefore rendered a pariah, and nobody wanted to get near him.

I suspect even his idiot boy thought that, a bit, with all his Oedipus crap and his father-complex and his gotta-do-better-than-my-daddy-did-and-make-my-own-mark!-And-show-'em-who's-boss!-attitude. Note how when daddy's pals, James Baker and Brent Scowcroft, wrote editorials and commentaries and allowed themselves to be heard saying out loud that the Iraq invasion - as it was shaping up - was completely wrong-headed and ill-advised and shouldn't be undertaken. You'll recall junior only scoffed at that and went ahead anyway.

Our little dauphin is liable to wind up with no friends, anywhere. We liberals/progressives/moderates/true democracy and civil rights lovers hate him already. That won't change. Increasing volumes of members of the military feel the same. Conservatives will hate him for costing them "their" White House, plus very possibly the House of Reps and the Senate as well. Could even pick up one or two governorships, for all I know. There goes all their leadership, their power, their front-row seats and best-tables-at-the-best-restaurants. Nobody's gonna be taking their calls anymore, because a whole slew of different people will be the new darlings. It's already NO LONGER "OUT" to be a Democrat, and maybe even a full-on liberal (shit, newt gingrich would single-handedly want to ream bush a new one for all the work he, gingrich, personally did to demonize the sheer word "liberal"!) anymore. It's starting to dawn on people that those of us who opposed the war were CORRECT, not the other way around. Things we warned about have actually happened, while they laughed at us and made money and got famous and more influential doing it. Now, they're dirt. BECAUSE OF bUSH!

And the neocons? Don't even get me started - specially since I already mentioned it earlier. They'll hate him to their dying breaths for spoiling their PNAC party. And you better believe he's already spoiled it. Maybe permanently.

I'll bet a dollar to a hole in a donut that Bush suddenly gets better for Severin during each of his next five speeches in the series. By the end of it, he'll be jacking off to tapes from the last one, screaming Chimpy's name.

:hangover: here you go ... they'll be needing all the help they can get when they all realize how much has been lost by this anti-christ admin.

Vets are waking up now I see and they are finding that the plan is to eliminate services to them.

It takes what it takes sadly enough. In the end, we all pay the price.

13. the speech violated the #1 rule of the right K-I-S-S
Keep It Simple Stupid

How too long and too BORING for even the faithful to stay with. Nothing new, no memorable phrases, waited at least twice for applause that never came and then there were three rounds of applause in 2 minutes (plants int he audience no doubt).

the world's turned upside down. Severin's dissing Bush but Egan and Brody (sp?), the only quasi liberals on the same station were dissing Kerry today for the nomination deal and traffic hassles anticipated for Beantown during the convention.. . .like that's his fault. . .?

Disclaimer. . .I only listen to that station when I'm in the car and need to drive aggressively in traffic (cause it angers me so) and am out of range of the more local NPR station.

Besides, Severin grading someone borders on the absurd when he only got into Radcliff when they needed to fill a quota for males when they were going coed in the 70's. So impressive. . .

20. It doesn't matter! They still support the Republican Party.
They will support the next sock puppet for the wealthiest 1% just like they supported Bush in 2000.

The next puppet might not be quite as repulsive as Bush, but the results will be the same if he/she becomes President.

25. It is not like Jay Severin
will be out of a job if Bush loses. They (he, Laura and hannity - they love each other btw) will continue on, and be happily making money. They only care about their bank accounts - they are entertainers for heaven's sake.

I listen to Jay often in the car (like someone else said - when driving home late at night he or Laura keep me awake they make me so mad). Seriously, I find that listening to them actually helps me shape my positions and statements about Democrats, since you are ready for what the opposition will say.

Jay always says how right he is (as in never wrong). Funny, suddenly that statement doesn't bother me so much!

The way things are looking now, Shrub is going to bring down the entire Repug/RW control of government.

But if he somehow manages to steal the election AGAIN, give it a few years and *all* the repugs will be dragged out of office feet first by angry mobs, and beaten to death with shovels in the street in front of the capitol.

Four more years of Shrub, and calling someone a "Republican" will be as insulating as calling them a Nazi. For a generation.

28. What aggravates me about Severin
is he will go on and on completely tearing Bush apart and admitting that Bush is an IDIOT. But he still says he will vote for him! Anytime a caller says, even YOU know Bush is a moron, why won't you vote for Kerry? Then he goes back to taxes, blah blah blah.
