with Colin Quinn will have Garofalo, Chuck D., Winstead, and Franken as the guests. Might be a good show.

...and part of the totally unfunny, unholy trinity of Quinn, Jim Breuer and Denis O'Leary. Who knew three Irish guys could be SO pathetic?
And this has nothing to do with politics. He just sucks every granule of humor out of everything that stumbles its way out of his incoherent pie-hole.

| 7. I would agree with that comedic assessment of Quinn |
|
Leary comes across as just too pissed off at everyone and everything to be funny.
I'd disagree slightly on Breuer, though. He was kind of funny in Half Baked, and I've seen his stand-up in a skit format on Comedy Central, and the piece he does about how different drinks act in your stomach is pretty funny.

He's a bit daft politically speaking, but you can tell he's trying to open a dialogue on controversial subjects and that counts for something with me. I like his show a lot, even though I get a bit miffed watching it sometimes.

... most of the time. He's a hyper (cocaine will do that) guy, kind of an Irish crank, but you've got to love him for what he is.

| 21. His timing is poor, his delivery halting, his voice gruffly shrill.... |
|
And it's obvious he's not very bright. He can't deliver a punch line off a cue card without sounding like the idjit football player in the back of the class being forced to read "King Lear" out loud.
And this is all without bringing his politics into question.
Even without the politics, Quinn is a poor comic. His appeal seems to be that of the drunken bullying boor, spanking nerds with a wet towel in the locker room. If you think that shit is funny, then you probably think Colin Quinn is funny. But to me, the best humor should be a revenge of the repressed, like Richard Pryor, Bill Hicks, Lenny Bruce, you know, the powerless getting back at the powerful, not the other way around.

|
I've heard her say that she likes Colin Quinn -- she just gets pissed off at his show sometimes, because it gives comics with RW political views a forum for airing an agenda totally lacking in factual basis.
She says that Colin himself is more of a middle-of-the-road kind of guy, tending a bit toward the left.

|
I haven't ever seen him do ANYTHING that made me laugh. Not his stand-up (which sucks), not the SNL News (which sucked) -- nothing.

with Garofalo, Franken, and Chuck D, it will be a Dems paradise on the show.
Anybody know when Bill Maher comes back on HBO? I know he'll be around all throughout the election season, but I don't remember when the show starts back up.

| 15. How did Colin Quinn ever manage to get a career in show biz? |
|
They guy's flat-out not funny. He sucked on Saturday Night Live...he sucked as an MTV veejay. I've never seen him do anything that I would consider warranting his success in entertainment. So who does he know? That's the only explanation I can think of.

| He paid his dues doing stand up. |
|
He has gotten less funny with age, when he was younger he was markedly better. He is one of those comics who isnt a terribly funny guy but comes up with funny stuff sometimes. But to answer your question hes got connections. He was a fixture of the NY comedy scene and made lots of connections. Plus he was on SNL and peopple know his name, which is cred that gets him opportunities.
He should just stay away from politics, he always rejects thinking about things instead going for the knee jerk reaction that will get him the most laughs and make him sound most cooly distant.

I've only watched him because he follows the superb Jon Stewart.

I can now find the remote and change the channel faster than the speed of unfunny. Seriously though. They cut from the Daily Show to the the Unfunny Show so fast that you are still laughing when all the funny suddenly gets sucked out of the air by Quinn's clumsy attempt at imitating Don Rickles.

I think he plays that ground zero card....."The terrorists bombed MY hometown, Not yours." He probably can't differentiate between Arabs and terrorists. I think he "supports the troops", as warhawks like to say.
