6. This group has decided to shut down our weekly protest in Dallas against

Halliburton. We need everyone that cares out on the street or backing us up. Come on DU, you all were here a year ago. Where are you now? We need every DU'er there is to show up. Please?

They're your local opponent--you have the best resources locally to find out who they are, who finances them, what their objectives are (well, some of that is obvious from their rhetoric and their tactics--they're pro-war and pro-Bush).

Find a reporter at the DFW Star-Telegram to help investigating. And, accept that they have an equal right to protest as yours. Make your message more powerful than theirs. Put the local police on notice that your group is not interested in violence, and instruct all your supporters to resist temptations to violence when taunted by this opposing group.

They have lots of sites listed, but few members. In Dallas, their site shows 36 members. Find someone to register on their site to get an idea of who those people might be.

Don't be frustrated or frightened by opposition.

Oh, and I wouldn't worry about the following post from PW -- it's a 1-post-wonder, designed to scare us DUers that they know are watching the thread.


I was able to ID then run background checks on a number of Fridays anti-Halliburton protesters. There is one of them who is a convicted hot-check writer. I am still processing the 7 DNA samples I was able to quietly obtain from the group. Once I run the accompanying photos through the database and positive id the samples I'll place the info into the national database and see if we don't have any criminal matches. If next Fridays group is larger I will have additional concealed collection vacuums available and we will continue the DNA collection program.

this is at least the 3rd thread you have started on this group. what makes you think they are anything other than a handful of nuts? exactly 2 of them showed up at the last rally, why are you so scared of them? do you really think counter-protesters DON'T show up at every rally/protest that has ever happened since the dawn of time? why are you wasting so much energy fretting about these cretins, which is exactly what they want you to do? again I ask, how can they "shut you down"?

15. Yes, "they" are a handful of nuts. We are not scared. We don't want

violence. There were more than 2 that showed up last Friday. They could shut us down if the violence they perpetrate gets out of hand. Guess you don't know much about "TalkRadio" in Dallas, do you?

Wasting time about "these cretins". You make me wonder? Once again, let me make it very clear, we opposing Halliburton are not scared, by anyone!

16. as people fighting an evil force

... we are going to have to face the fact that there very well can be violence. think fire hoses, severe beatings, even lynchings during the 60s, imprisonment and torture in apartheid South Africa, killing at Kent State, confrontations during the Vietnam War, the atrocities of World War II--and the unfathomable courage of the people who faced those outrages and atrocities and continued struggling--on and on throughout history. We all must look deep inside ourselves and confront our fears and not let fear control us and make us surrender. Think of the courage of those who have gone before--the Freedom Fighters of civil rights days, the French Resistance during WWII, the poor souls who died in South Africa--can the threat imposed by these ProtestWarrior goons compare to the abuses suffered by generations of people who have fought for freedom and justice? The use of violence only severely weakens their own case, by the way--but we'd have to have our heads in the sand to think that protesting BushCo can be a matter of merely parading around with a few signs. I am no seer and cannot predict if these kinds of evil things will truly happen--god knows I hope with all my heart not, that the vast majority of people are on the side of righteousness and these things just cannot happen.
