Diebold machines and Ralph Nader
i don't know if its possible, but i had a dream about it. Diebold didn't break for bush, because the heat on them was too strong. So bush had roughly 41 million votes. The shock was nader somehow took 16 million votes while kerry got 39 million and the constituional party got 4 million . The key was boosting nader, since the media had began to play up the disgruntled with bush, but not supporting kerry angle from voters. Gay marriage and bush refusal to act tough got the constitutional party more support (at least so says diebold.

I just don't see them doing anything outrageous because they know if bush wins by too big a margin an investigation will ensue. So if the margin is within a few million votes, they aren't capable of making it look like bush by a small margin, without excessive micro-rigging. So they boost the third party canidates to make it look like both parties lose, but the dems lose more.

3. for instance...
Small counties like in say montana, by 631 votes, and in north carolina etc etc. Small margins in small towns thruout the country.

4. I doubt it will happen. Nader WANTS Kerry to win.
Edited on Mon May-24-04 09:09 AM by blm
People underestimate the longtime bond between Nader and Kerry. Nader will eventually encourage voting for Kerry. That would disrupt the BFEE intent.

7. I don't buy this for a second. If Nader wanted Kerry to win
He would have made a huge deal out of NOT running. Nader is out to expand Nader's influence. He'll take whatever Diebold and the GOP give him.

9. I really disagree. Nader being in right now helps Kerry.
For the next couple months, Kerry will be working on the centrist and moderate Republican votes. His reputation and the parts of his record as a far left liberal will be muted somewhat by Nader's presence representing the far left.

Nader helps Kerry in the long run.

11. It comes down to his position on the war
Nader has said he doesn't want to have to be a candidate. It depends on whether Kerry is willing to come out against the war.

5. Exactly right. And it dovetails with the polling.
All they have to do is give Nader three percent in a couple tight states. The media will sell it ("everybody cast protest votes"will be the line) and the far left will keep their moths shut since the "results" will show that they have a larger base of support than they actually do.

Yet another reason thor Ralph the Ego to go away.

8. Yet another reason for ranked voting
It would be nice if there was at least a hint of real democracy in this country.

13. I think it is a good idea for voters to educate themselves . . .
Edited on Mon May-24-04 10:02 AM by Tina H
as to whether they live in a close district or not.

Those who live in close districts need to focus on Bush removal by voting for Kerry and working to keep Nader off the ballot.

Those who live in non-close districts should focus on getting the right messages to Kerry (eg, rein in ramampnt corporatism, get out of Iraq, repeal the Pat Act). One great way to convey this message is with a symbolic vote.
