Bush: "This week brought further evidence that across America...
more citizens are finding jobs."

From the weekly radio address, transcript here:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/05/20040522.html

More quotes from Chairman Bush on why you should shut the fuck up and BE HAPPY:

"The Department of Labor reported state-by-state job results, and these figures show that America's jobs engine is running strong.

Nationally, we gained 288,000 new jobs in April, and the nation has added more than 1.1 million new jobs since last August. The unemployment rate has fallen steadily, and now stands at 5.6 percent, down from 6.3 percent last June, and lower than the average unemployment rate of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s."

"States that have trailed in job growth are now making progress. Wisconsin and Ohio have each added more than 30,000 new jobs this year. New Hampshire gained 2,700 new jobs in April, alone. And in Oregon, the unemployment rate has fallen from a high of 8.7 percent last summer, down to 6.7 percent in April, as the state has added 29,000 new jobs."

(TIME OUT on Bush's "Ohio" remarks...yesterday on MSNBC, anchor Chris Jansing asked Treasury Secretary John Snow what he thought about people in Ohio who have had to take one of these "new" jobs to keep a roof over their heads and support their families for $10,000 less than they were making in their last job. Snow's response was "Ohio is comin' back STRONG").

Back to the quotes from Crusader Bush:

"These gains are the result of the hard work of Americans -- and a pro-growth, pro-jobs agenda that begins with tax relief. When we let the American people keep more of what they earn and save, they put that money to good use. They demand more goods and services, which creates demand for new workers. Now that our economy is expanding and adding more jobs, we need to make sure Americans keep their tax relief."

"With the right policies, we will maintain the strong forward momentum of the American economy, which is creating thousands of new jobs for American workers."

"I am George W. Bush, and I endorse the "morans" guy." (no, that one is not an actual quote...but he probably DOES).

2. !!
The Department of Labor reported state-by-state job results, and these figures show that America's jobs engine is running strong. Computer programmers and union members whose jobs were eliminated when their employers found cheaper labor in India and China and who spent months on the unemployment line as a result are now finding gainful employment stocking shelves at WalMart. Since they are making considerably less than before, this creates a further savings for America's entrepreneurs. Falling wages assure that steady job growth will continue. This is proof that my policies of tax cuts for America's employers and falling wages for America's workers are working.

3. Oh, really?
Then how come the car business has slowed down so much that my husband, who was a mechanic for a dealership, was laid off? I've noticed that sales of homes is way off in our area, and that a lot of our regular customers are turning down appointments for pest service, though this is the bug season. As one fellow said, "Recovery? We're at the start of a recession!"

4. What planet are you talking about, bush?

... they put that money to good use. They demand more goods and services, which creates demand for new workers.

Sure, as long as it's cheap goods made overseas and don't even get me started on the services which I can't even afford because the qualified people charge way too much for my puny budget to allow.

5. Does he have even the slightest grasp of what telling the truth is about?
Edited on Sat May-22-04 10:32 AM by terrya
Does he even understand the concept of "truth"?

He's so predictable in that every single word out of his mouth is a shameless lie. I'm really beginning to wonder.

8. So you're one of the people Snow was talking about yesterday...
...you came back strong...and that $7.20 will create in you a desire for goods and services, and you will spend your $7.20 on those goods and services and in doing so create jobs for other 'murcans, all of which is wrapped in the warm, protective, fatherly hug of the Bush Tax Cuts.

Is it November yet?

9. So we take the unemployment rate for 1 month in 2004 and then
compare it to the decade averages of the 70s, 80s, and 90s? What was CLinton's average unemployment rate compared to that month? Or better yet, Clinton's as compared to all of Bush's.

What an idiot!

10. However...............
there seem to be enough greater idiots who believe this claptrap and continue to support the illegal squatter in the White House. Doesn't it just make your chest swell with pride to be an "Murkin"!

11. Must be all those
Payday advance stores, pawn shops, car title loan shops, collection agencies, repo men, dollar stores, and rent to own places opening up that are driving the new economy.

Used to only see the payday advance/check cashing stores in the depressed areas of town now there is at least one in every section of the city.

12. I've noticed this too
"Used to only see the payday advance/check cashing stores in the depressed areas of town now there is at least one in every section of the city. "

A Cash Express just opened up in a shopping center I drive by every day. This is a center anchored by an Albertsons, fitness center, restaurants, a bookstore, and several boutique shops. It is one of the highest rent centers in the city!

These cash loan ripoff places used to only be in the liquor store/titty bar/cheap motel area. Not anymore.
