We don't support it.

We cut the funding.

Essentially, we avoid it at any cost. (bear with me, I know that there are probably more Dems that actually had bullets whizzing past their ears than Repukes).

So, given that mind frame, we should point out that:

There are no liberals in the military, so,

All those gay acts on the prisoners, all that torturing of the prisoners, all the acts of the military against humanity, every child killed because he or she was in the way of the bullet

were committed by people who think exactly like all the bush supporters.

It's no wonder they think that what happens is acceptable behavior. Read their blogs. That's probably where these guys got it.

(Now, the reality is that the military is full of all kinds; I'm not that simpleminded, but the bush supporters seem to be).

1. So what do they say about a Secretary of Defense...
Who befriends and pays an Iranian spy millions of dollars for phony intelligence?

3. What a crock of crap. I'm from a military family.
And they're Democrats.

We support the troops. Repubs support the oaf of office, who hides behind the troops. There's a big difference.

8. So what are you showing me here?
You take the opinion of a couple of individuals and blanket whole the Democratic Party with it... Pretty dumb!

6. I hate it so much
I served 22 years. All you have to do is listen to the lady who called Rush Limbaugh (I don't listen...heard it on the O'Franken Factor) that said we should flatten Iraq. Let's see we invaded their country, killed 20,000 + innocent civilians, ruined the infrastructure and stood around and allowed what didn't get ruined by us...ruined by looters, made 100's of thousands unemployed...and we should nuke them cause they killed 5 people.
The right wingers are total nut cases. But the whole thing in Al Gharaib happened because the nut case in chief said "Bring em on"
:nuke:

7. I do hate the military...
...and everything it stands for. I learned that hatred on the inside at the end of a career in it.

So what?

9. Sensible defense policy vs. jingoism.
In general Dems would rather find diplomatic solutions and skip the carnage, build homes not bombs. Repigs have no patience or talent for diplomacy and actually get off on the juvenile authoritarian macho gratification of blowing 'em away to teach 'em a lesson.

Take your pick.

10. A Veteran
I served and in my experience there are a lot decent people in the Military. There are also sadists & sociopaths. It doesn't take a whole lot of sadists & sociopaths to bring about atrocities, abuse and torture. The Military should have better psychological tests to weed out these people. Also, having been in the stockade for 90 days I experienced what many gaurds turn into or were before they became guards. Sadists & sociopaths.

I have seen some awful shit done to other soldiers in and outside of the stockade. Being in a war zone can brutalize people, especially if they have sadistic tendencies to begin with. After a while some soldiers lose their postive side and slide into their dark side. They get soaked in the brutality around them and become brutal themselves. No, it doesn't excuse them from their behavior but it is an understandable situation.

The leaders that are now in charge are sociopaths and have sanctioned if not encouraged the abuse and torture that is system wide. War crimes have been committed. Will anyone be indicted above Sgt. for those?

12. YOU are propagating the same mindset ...
Liberals are DEFINITELY in the military .... Who says they arent ? ....

Sheeeesh ....

Im liberal and a PROUD american who supports those sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces who chose to join the military ..... They are MY kin, and many are DEFINITELY liberal .....

YOU complain about the broad brush applied by our opponents, even as you wield it yourself ....

13. Just pointing out they cannot blame us for the torture in Abu Graib
if they keep pointing out that "liberals" and "Democrats" are a bunch of chickenshits.

Mind you, another thread I posted was that there were several left-leaning coworkers who have had their sons (no daughters yet) take active roles in the Iraq invasion, and one of the most vehement Bush apologizers has a son who is in perfect health (daugher is a diabetic, whether or not that matters). Said son is strictly continuing his college education, not joining up like his Vietnam era father who did serve (unlike the bulk of this misadministration).
