You Know, Arnold Could Work to OUR Advantage..............
...if the DNC uses their brain, takes advantage of a golden opportunity and doesn’t shrink into a corner, hunker down and hope the sky doesn’t fall on them (as usual)! Please bear with me because after two and a half years here, I smell this....I really smell this.

Yep, by now you know that Davis wants the Clintons to come out and campaign for him; BUT the whole news today (how far do you trust media whores) is that the Clintons don’t want to do this because they don’t want to be associated with a “loser”. My God, DNC now needs to use their brains. We have the situation of CA where the news media will be focused for two months at the total distraction of our Dem presidential candidates... (Dem presidential candidates??--what Dem candidates?? Do you get the picture?---we are off any page in any newspaper because of this-- and that includes Howard Dean). But we can either just disappear as a party OR we can make CA something Bush dreads.

The DNC desperately needs to bring Clinton to CA, the most liberal of our states and where he is very popular. BUT, he cannot come in to campaign for Davis. They need for him to come and address the citizens of CA, independently standing on “principle” like the following: 1) citizens of CA, you are the next Florida where democracy is stolen from the people; 2) the repukes hate the democratic process and use every means possible to overthrow the officials elected by the people; 3) the repukes hate the American people and their process of democracy; 4) CA is the first of a long assault on Democracy by these people that will end in the total destruction of the electoral process and the fall of this nation, and finally (5) this is the work of the people who overthrew this nation in 2000--G. W. Bush and his regime and they are using you to further their anti-democratic agenda. 6) Why do we send our troops to supposedly bring “democracy” to another nation while these swine work to dismantle our democracy here in the US of A.. 7) You, CA, are our last line of defense against these right wing Nazi fascists.

In a word, folks, they need to give the national podium to the guy that the GOP fears most---Bill Clinton. That is why the repukes try to demonize him. They are afraid of his power to rally the troops and sell his message. CA is the PERFECT backdrop for Bill because of his following there-- ( other Dem candidates have been afraid to associate themselves with him and that has been a great gag on our party). Bringing up the 2000 election is NOT what Rove wants in this election cycle. This could be the “kick off “ to the Dem ’04 campaign. From this ’bully pulpit” that the whore media has to cover, Bill can (use your imagination here) branch out into all sorts of things to attack this administration. Folks, Arnold provides the circus backdrop that has all sorts of Neanderthals listening who would never listen to us or any politician. This is the time and the opportunity and Bill is the ONLY one that these “star struck” morons might listen to..........but more importantly, the message (as the media whores gulp) that goes across this land. Bottom line: if we sit in the corner and Arnold wins, we will be laughed at as the loser who couldn’t even keep the most liberal state in the union. OR we can turn this into something that is Bush’s worst nightmare. If our DNC can’t think themselves out of this, then it prove to me that they are setting our candidates up to lose.....I’m serious. They aren’t that stupid. They can turn this pro-Dem. If they chose not to, then we have to admit some ugly realities to ourselves. I would NEVER forgive them for not taking advantage of this national coverage and making it an attack on the GOP and the Bush regime. I’m sick of the “polite” words that make us losers----I’ll guarantee you that I wouldn’t have to outline this to the GOP if the situations were reversed.

2. i say let the cretin win.
let him and his repook cronies take over the mess they created.

it won't be long before he shows how incompetent he and his repooks cronies are, and they will be run out of the state next election, not to been seen again for decades.

8. That is a poor plan
NEVER give up power in hopes that your opponent will mess up so bad they'll ruin everyone and ask for you to return.

3. California hates Davis
The laws are there(don't like it, change it).

The people are only exercising their power(and available laws). This is democracy in action!

True, the Republicans are instigating this whole process. However(and this is important), they are only tapping into genuine anti-Davis sentiment among Californians.

This is a phenomenon that is now beyond the Republicans. Just ask the man who started this whole process i.e. Daryl Issa!

4. This is completely media driven - the media told people to hate Davis
Edited on Mon Aug-11-03 07:36 PM by Democat
Why do you think people hate Davis? The media.

Why do they love Arnold? The media.

It is very simple.

Bush has done far worse things to America than Davis has done to California, but the media tells people to hate Davis and tells people to love Bush.

If the media decided that Gary Coleman was going to win the recall, then Gary Coleman would be the next governor.

If Arnold has entered the race as a Democrat, the media would dismiss him and destroy him and he wouldn't even be a serious candidate right now.

The recall was being promoted by the California media before the Republican even considered it a serious possibility.

This is a right wing theft made possible by the right wing media.

Don't buy the bullshit!

10. I was interviewed by a newspaper reporter
And she repeated over and over the mantra that "no one likes Davis" and I told her what I've told everyone else - in your own little world, maybe, but if you talk to anyone on the street they don't have a thing against him. Nothing. Nada. They're completely ambivalent about him. Just like me.

And we don't like heavy-handed republican attempts at overturning elections here in California. There was outrage about Florida and there will be activisim going on here like never before.

5. You are all missing the point!!!!!
This is the bully pulpit ---fuck California...this is biger than California. This is the chance for Clinton to address the nation and point to the fact that CA is nothing more than the repukes second Florida!! Yep, let's bring on direct democracy, you idiots. Let's throw out Davis...and I think there is some such think starting down in one of our Southern States. Lets throw out every fuckin scum bag Dem who can't create a zillion dollar surplus in these states ravaged by Bush's economy. I want these fuckers replaced, don't you and replaced with god fearing, good Republicans who can save the nation. Do you get what I am trying to say???? Recall elections every five minutes isn't a cute exercise in democracy......it's the end of this fucking idiotic country. Just like a corporation can't survive if every three months the CEO is changed. Wake up and grow up. This IS a very serious issue AND it is the golden opportunity for Clinton to point out to the nation what these fuckers are doing. Stop the goddamn DNC mentality of "oh, let Arnold win and the people will hate him in 2 months"...ain't gonna happen folks. We either seize the bully pulpit now or you can not only kiss CA goodbye; we will be known as fucking losers who couldn't hold on to our most liberal state and as much losers at the midterms and we don't even have to bother putting up a candiate in '04. Wake up to not only the death sentence on this party of CA but the great possibility of shoving it all in Rove's face. You all sound like the goddamn losers in the DNC.

6. Issa, the crybaby couldn't stand the scrutiny
If people hate Davis, then why did he get re-elected? I think this
re-call is a travesty. What a circus they're having in California.

7. This would be the same Clinton who jumped to DEFEND Bush on Larry
King Live 2 weeks ago - to DEFEND him for having told a bald-faced lie in the SOTU address, to send the nation to war? You mean THAT Bill Clinton?

He is going to come to California, & give an inspiring speech about defending the integrity of the democratic process -- when he couldn't even bring himself to expose the VRWC for what they are, when they tried to throw him out of office 5 yrs ago? After he didn't say Boo about the stolen election in 2000? After Hillary (partly acting on Bill's advice, no doubt) did the cowardly thing and voted for the Iraq resolution in 2002?

Maybe it's just me, but somehow, I have trouble visualizing such a thing coming to pass.

13. Can't Beat Em?
Impeach, Steal, Recall- It's the GOP way.

We need to make this into a bumper sticker. Starpass is right, this is a perfect opportunity for us to get this message out. I hope Clinton takes the lead, but even if he doesn't, WE should take advantage of this situation to help people make the connection between the impeachment, the stolen election and this recall= the GOP's win at any cost disdain for democracy, hatred of America.
