Bush Admin "jumps the shark"
yesterday on Meet the Press. They're showing it now on CNBC and it's my first time seeing it in it's entirety. When the off camera Emily tries to subvert our freedom the once great general is finally fed up and bails on Bush. When you try and screw Tim Russert who has been very generous shall we say to Bush you have jumped the proverbial shark.I saw it with my own two eyes and still can't believe in their blatant right there in front of God and everybody attempts at trying to control the message. We knew it and hopefully the rest of the country wakes up to what these people will do and just how far they will go.

6. RE: "I totally missed it, could you give me a run down?"
This is my first DU post- wish me luck!

Russert was asking Powell about his Feb. '03 trip to the UN and his presentation. The question was something on the order of whether or not Powell is concerned for his reputation arpund the world because most of the elements in his UN presentation have proven to be false.

7. Emily spun the camera and muttered... "they're going to edit it"
I believe the meaning was that she was concerned that somehow Powell's words might be used against king stupid and she sought to curtail the raw material. Evidently Emily learned her media savvy from none other than Tom Delay.

8. Watch the Hardball re-run
at what 11:00 at the end in the last 15 minutes he'll show Powell's press secretary "Emily" moves the camera away and you see the ocean and a palm tree Powell tells her "you scr(ewed up)get out of the way Emily".Turns out this Emily is one of the Delay crowd who came down here and was banging on the doors in Broward County yelling "LET US IN"Bug boy had to have been so proud.

3. I saw it on Olbermann, It was damning. Russert said in his 13 years
of Meet the Press, that that was the first time anyone ever attempted to pull the plug on his show. Amazing stuff. Every single person on this planet ought to see the clip. I portrays what we, I have been fighting all along. It is proof positive of the Fascism rotting this country away by the BFEE.

5. transcript...
for some odd reason the video, which I watched this morning on MSNBC.com is "unavailable", hmmmm...

Russert: Finally, Mr. Secretary, in February of 2003, you placed your enormous personal credibility before the United Nations and laid out a case against Saddam Hussein citing...

Powell: Not off.

Emily: No. They can't use it. They're editing it. They (unintelligible).

Powell: He's still asking me questions. Tim.

Emily: He was not...

Powell: Tim, I'm sorry, I lost you.

Russert: I'm right here, Mr. Secretary. I would hope they would put you back on camera. I don't know who did that.

Powell: We really...

Russert: I think that was one of your staff, Mr. Secretary. I don't think that's appropriate.

Powell: Emily, get out of the way.

Emily: OK.

Powell: Bring the camera back, please. I think we're back on, Tim. Go ahead with your last question.

14. What's even more important than the camera pulling away
is Powell's response to the question:

Russert: . . .How concerned are you that some of the information you shared with the world is now inaccurate and discredited?

Powell: . . .But it turned out that the sourcing was inaccurate and wrong and in some cases, deliberately misleading. And for that, I am disappointed and I regret it.

Man, Powell is pulling the plug on this administration. Is he doing the honorable thing or just saving his skin? It is some kind of chess game going on now . . .

17. I think he was trying to say that
I think he was trying to say that everyone in the government is innocent of lying, but the CIA was tricked by Iraqi exiles.

19. remember this about Emily...
...She was one of the people involved in the Florida "Renta-mob" that shut down the vote counting. She worked for DeLay (and perhaps still does, covertly).

20. I think the whole thing was THEATRICS
to draw attention to Powell's statement that he had been given false information. So many more people PAID ATTENTION because of the unusual circumstances of this event. But the message Powell was INSISTING upon getting across, was gotten across: that he had been given false information. He didn't LIE to the UN (and the world) he simply reported disinformation.

I don't BELIEVE that, do you? I don't believe that the Secretary of State could have been FOOLED by such information when I, sitting here at my computer with no more access to information than was commonly available, felt CERTAIN that there were no WMD's in Iraq. At the very least there was every reason to QUESTION the information he'd been given. Did he question it? If not, why not?

Powell uses theatrics when he is lying.
