3. It IS legal.
What is the crime in having two people married? Because they are the same gender? What a load of bull.

13. Work with me...
... in order to preserve the sanctity of marriage. I propose a constitutional ban on adultery and divorce. If marriage is the sacred institution the RW would have us believe, then it would behoove us all to support the call for this amendment... yes, you, sir, the congressman in the gray flannel suit? You say you can't support the amendment because in might affect your lifestyle? I see.. and... excuse me, I'm sorry, what? I should lease be quiet because you're busy thanking the Fundamentalists for contributing enough cash to your war chest to put you in the upper one percent of all wage earners, and thanking the president for cutting your taxes. Yes, sir. Sorry for the interruption.

14. YEAH! I've said this ever since the Gay bashing started in Wash.
If marriage is considered so sacred, then outlaw divorce! I think it's a great idea. I've been married to the same guy for 40 years, so it sure wouldn't bother me, but our lawmakers.....? Wonder how many of them haven't been divorced and/or had affairs????

This deal is the same as the Rep. who was bashing Clinton for "infidelity", was supposed to be made Speaker, and then had to step down because he was found to have been carrying on an affair. I forget his name, there have been so many weird things to remember about the Pubs,, I have a brain cramp!

16. Newt....
Newt delivered divorce papers to his wife while she was hospitalized for cancer surgery. He was such a compassionate conservative!

6. Their rallying cry used to be "no special rights"
Looks like the repressives have amended that to be "no equal rights, either." It's hatred and bigotry, plain and simple.

7. Thank GOD for Massachusetts!!!
Yahoo! Marriage is legal for EVERYONE in Massachusetts!!!

One little thing I have always been intrigued by:

Why do most gay women have short hair but most gay men don't have long hair?

8. I've been a Christian all my life
attending S. Baptist for most of it and I have no problem with this at all. I really don't understand the rabid objections to two people, who love each other, wanting to be "married". I think the heteros need to take a closer look at the divorce rate in this country and work on that.

17. the religiously insane have a protest scheduled for today in Phx
From the azpolicy.org website:

Marriage Crisis Rally!
Monday, May 17
Arizona State Capitol
Wesley Bolin Plaza
17th Avenue & Washington
Please wear a white shirt or blouse to
symbolize the purity of marriage

It would be funny if it wasn't so sad and stupid. White for purity? Who in the hell are these clowns kidding? The percentage of modern brides who wear white to symbolize virginity these days must be down to the single digits. And then there are the reality TV marriages, and the Brittany loses her shit in Vegas type-marriages, and what do you want to bet that more than half of the "purists" who will be holding signs in favor of discrimination today are on their second, third or fourth marriages? The utter hypocracy and arrogance of these idiots is staggering. There remains to this day an absolute void in reasoning as to how my marriage will in ANY way affect theirs, much less adversely.
