So. What happened to the 9/11 Commission?
It was there. Then all hell broke loose in Fallujah. Bush & Dick did their puppet act for the Commission. I lost track of what happens next. Is it through? Are they issuing a report? Or will it be released (predictably) after the election? It felt like the momentum disappeared, or maybe the interest. Anyone know?

Families Brace for Sept. 11 Commission

By SARA KUGLER, Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK - Families who never stopped imagining their loved ones' last moments inside the burning World Trade Center are preparing to watch the most vivid reconstruction yet of that horrific day.

The Sept. 11 Commission comes to Manhattan this week, convening just miles from ground zero Tuesday to examine the emergency response to the disaster. The hearings will include video footage of the attack and detailed witness testimony.

"If it's really bad I'll walk out or put my head down," said Judith Jackson Reiss, whose son, Joshua, died in the north tower.

The panel has heard some heart-wrenching testimony in its 10 public hearings. But this week's is likely to be the most agonizing yet. Some footage is said to include the sound of bodies falling from the towers.

7. Yes- Giuliani, Ridge, and a bunch of others...
Here is the link to the press release from the Commission (it's a pdf): http://www.9-11commission.gov/press/pr_2004-05-10.pdf

The relevant section:
Beginning at 8:45 a.m. at the New School University's John L. Tishman Auditorium (66 West 12th Street), the Commission will hear from the current and former top-level officials in the fire, police, and emergency management departments of New York City, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and Arlington County, Virginia. Secretary of Homeland Security Thomas J. Ridge and former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani will also testify. Three staff statements will be presented during the course of the hearing. The hearing will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19. A complete hearing agenda and directions to New School University follow this advisory.

5. FYI: For info on the 9/11 Commission, here is their site...
link: www.911commission.gov

They have schedules and info there. From the site:
The Commission's eleventh public hearing on "Emergency Response" will be held May 18-19, 2004, at New School University in New York City. All members of the media must have registered by the close of business on Thursday, May 13.
<snip>

After that, their final (I think) hearing is:
The Commission will hold its twelfth public hearing on "National Crisis Management" and "The 9-11 Plot" June 8-9, 2004 in Washington, DC.
<snip>

That gives them about six weeks of work before the July 26 reporting deadline, with a final termination date of August 26.
