Has the Democratic party already lost its focus?
The more I watch network news and the more I watch C-Span, I can't help but feel like we as a party have already lost our focus. This is an election year and nothing seems to be said much about our nominee. What has happen, for months, throughout the primaries democrats dominated the news spouting political dogma at every turn. Now what? Have our fearless leaders in Washington forgot that the White House has to be taken back? Have they forgotten that a united democratic party is our only hope of defeating George W. Bush? Do they want to continue to lose seats in the house and senate until we are no longer a major party in this country? Something must be done, changes have to me made. I cannot live like this!! I can't stand to see a world where republicans dominate our news media!! They tell lies at every turn and no one calls them on it! What has happen my few dems? What has happened to our great political party?

1. I think its being played correctly
if Kerry says anything negative at all the media is all over it. Its profiting politically in a time of national crisis. By building on his reputation with the media by and taking the high road, and most other Dems doing the same, the horror of the Bush* administration drags itself down. And, its working all (ok, almost all) the polls show a drop.

There will be time to campaign aggressively as you describe later. People really aren't listening yet.

2. Cut down your intake of network news
We still have 6 months to go before the election. Whats more, John Kerry seems to be moving ahead of Bush. This is great news. So what news are you expecting?

3. The Bush Regime is destroying itself right now,
and on a grand, Wagnerian scale at that. Why interfere? Why furnish them with a distraction, you know, something along the lines of "John Kerry is politizing the war and loves Saddam"?

I think Kerry is playing it just right by letting them hang themselves on their own.

6. LOST its focus?
Was there a time when it had some focus -- other than Howard Dean, of course. If so, I missed it. Please, fill me in!

7. I can tell you that the grassroots are strong and growing.

Maybe you need to get out into the streets more.

I was at a carwash yesterday where a bevy of young ladies spent all-day Saturday washing cars for MoveOn at $5.00 each. They billed it as a Burlesque Car Wash and wore fish-net stockings, shorts, and outrageous shoes. They also had a garage-sale in the other end of their parking lot.

I'm so proud of them I could cry.

After that about 40 people turned out to march with our candidate in one of the major suburban festival parades.

Then about 20 people did their regular 2 hr Saturday stint on a central street-corner with their 9/11 signs. Overwhelming honking and cheering from traffic!

8. Focus was lost a good while ago
When the switch from championing ideas to winning in name only became the mantra of the party it was lost. The primary reason no one trusts the Democrats anymore is exactly because they do not stand up for the ideas they once did. They do not put their name on the line for these ideas. Instead many play the numbers game and try to appeal to the undecided voter. The very idea of finding out what appeals to the undecided means your very focus becomes undecided.

Lost the focus? Yes. A long time ago.

9. This was necessary in order to survive because the grassroots were dead.
There is/was no one there for those who stood up.

Responsibility and follow-up are what is necessary to get the leaders you want.

I also think that responsibility and follow-up should be focused on ISSUES not on ANY party.
