BBV Story Makes Front Page Of Washington Post.....
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A42085-2003Aug10.html

See the A01 - three little letters that mean a great deal out there in the print biz...

Way to go bev!!

Sympathetic article too... not alarmist by any means but hits all the
right notes.

One para struck me from the sidebar...

"Arlington and Fairfax counties use older electronic equipment but are negotiating to buy Advanced Voting Solutions' latest wireless touch-screen machines. "

Are negotiating to buy wireless machines!!!! Now that's a great idea. Not.

2. Now, this is a completely FALSE statement
from the article:

"Many solutions are already spelled out in the Help America Vote Act, which mandates tougher security, usability and accuracy standards."

I read through the HAVA and it is premised/justified as saying it is necessary ON ORDER to get tougher on security, usability and accuracy standards. But HAVA doesn't SPELL out how to SOLVE the issues of security and accuracy (maybe it does re usability for disabled voters).

Am I wrong about that? HAVA doesn't specificy HOW ACCURATE it has to be (within a margin for error) does it? And it sure heck doesn't say HOW that is supposed to happen.

3. HAVA is unconditionally shitty legislation slammed through
to put the vote stealing machines in place ASAP.

It has almost no redeeming qualities.

Compare it to Holt's legislation to see the stark contrast.
