| Need help with police endorsement of Kerry |
|
I read the other day that a large police union that had backed Bush in 2000 have switched and are now endorsing Kerry. It's the Brotherhood of Police Union or something like that. Not sure if I read it on DU or some other source. Want to take the info to the next meeting of the local Democratic Party. Help!

The really big police endorsement to wait for though is the Fraternal Order of Police. They endorsed Bush in 2000, and they boast many more members than IBPO.

Police union to back Kerry
Associated Press
WASHINGTON - Presumptive Democratic nominee John Kerry on Friday collected the endorsement of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers,a police union that backedPresident Bush in the 2000 election.
"After 3 1/2 years of disappointing leadership under George Bush, we need to change course in November and elect a president with a real record of supporting police officers and a lifetime of standing with law enforcement," IBPO President David Holway said in a statement provided by the Kerry campaign.
The union endorsed Bill Clinton in 1992 and 1996.
