Has the media quit announcing the number of US soldiers dead?

I read somewhere the other day that the toll had reached 900. I was surprised because I did not think I had heard of many deaths since it was in the upper 700s. I have noticed the newscasters I have heard announcing a death occasionally that they do not follow it with the tally like they used to. Did the white house send out a dictum about this?

1. it used to be a daily report. i assume it's at around 1,000

so we are in the same ballpark, but we are guessing, because they lie and juggle the numbers.

However, they are now doing Iraqi insurgent body counts.
