Right on Cue, the New York Post: "FASTER, PUSSYCAT! KILL! KILL!"
Gang,

As if right now cue - I'll bet this "editorial" was already written before the beheading was
made public - the New York Post seeks to rile us all up into a PATRIOTIC FERVOR!

This editorial is downright LAUGHABLE, as it hits all the major WHITE HOUSE TALKING POINTS regarding the Iraq War and the War on Terror. Would you expect anything LESS from the Murdoch-owned, Official Bush Ministry of Propaganda Newspaper, the New York Post?

http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/editorial/20645.htm

If you guys don't mind, I will lay out some of the "money" quotes from this "editorial."

"" In case the world needed a reminder of why America is waging its War on Terror, it got
one yesterday.""

"" Now it's time to ratchet up the response to this war.""

"" Forget Abu Ghraib.""

""the beheading may have been carried out personally by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a top
aide of Osama bin Laden

""This war cannot be waged with half-measures""

""It can end only with the total annihilation of those who practice butchery and barbarism.
Those who have set as their goal the destruction of America""

and Captain Mike's personal favorite:

""Some people - some AMERICANS - have forgotten about 9/11""

Gotta love it! Of course, remember now we're SUPPOSED TO FORGET ABOUT 9-11 when it
comes to finally getting to the REAL TRUTH; we're supposed to FORGET ABOUT 9-11 when
it comes to the complete WHITEWASH being peformed by the 9-11 Commission; we're
supposed to FORGET ABOUT 9-11 when it comes to actually holding the guy occupying
the White House when it actually happened, ACCOUNTABLE. "Nope. Nothing to see here,
move on folks. Wait! IS that Saddam holding a chemical weapon behind his back?"

But when they're STILL TRYING TO ASSOCIATE IRAQ WITH 9-11, well then, they'll SHAME us
"Patriotic" types into REMEMBERING 9-11 for their own nefarious ends - or at least for
Bush's latest campaign commercial.

This NY Post editorial would indeed be LAUGHABLE if 99.9% of its readership ended
up NOT agreeing with it. I mean, is that actually an acceptable turn of phrase to include in
an editorial printed in a major American newspaper of note? "Total Annihilation?" I mean,
it's like something out of a movie. It's a like a phrase you might hear uttered by the main
character in an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. Oh, wait! Isn't that guy now the
GOVERNOR of CALIFORNIA, the world's Fifth-largest economy? Oy, gevald!

This is like going down a White House Wish List of points to be made to the American
Public. This editorial tries to stir up America's blood lust which once again ties Iraq to 9
-11 (which had NOTHING to do with the attacks on 9-11), and further PUBLICIZES THE
LEGEND OF Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, whom The Pentagon told you MONTHS AGO was already DEAD or IMPRISONED last year.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, as I've predicted months ago, is being "built up" by the US Military Propaganda Wing to "inherit" the mantle of "Official Main Swarthy Boogeyman" after Bush rolls out the dead or captured Osama bin Laden before the 2004 Election. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has the greatest publicity firm in the world, THE CIA.

What with all this "HYPE" over someone who doesn't register a pulse, I consider Abu
Musab al-Zarqawi to be the "Matthew McConaughy" of Terror.

1. Scary.
Almost reads like something you'd read in Germany.

Hitler's Germany.

2. ny post right after 9/11
Edited on Thu May-13-04 07:18 PM by RedSock
i wish i had the paper with me now (it's at home), but the gist (if not the actual wording) was that the US needed to bomb someone -- it didn't matter who -- just drop some bombs. this was on 9/12 or 9/13.

it was full of those great one sentence paragraphs. scary sh*t indeed.

3. About the one-sentence paragraphs:
Are they supposed to signify some type of relentless, breathless rage?

Or is this their way of reaching people who can't or can't be bothered to read entire paragraphs?

6. Please, please
Send your comments to the New York Post. (If you don't want to, perhaps I need to write them. They probably won't be interested in the ravings of a liberal from the Left Coast, however.)

The only ones who think any of us have forgotten what happened on September 11th are the management of the New York Post (and the management of the Wall Street Journal. One of their employees was stupid enough to trash Kristin Breitweiser via e-mail and sent her one by accident. Do these media whores not know that Kristin and the Jersey Girls are considered heroes by those of us who are thankful that they continue to fight for the truth?) The editors of the New York Post are beyond stupid if they think that the flag waving, shopping and terra alert approach will work twice.

In the meantime, the sleeping giant has awoken. The genie's out of the bottle. I could go on and on with trite cliches, but when we are seeing Republicans wholesale turning their backs on the Bush administration, it's time to see if we can get to some common ground, and get a voting turnout on November 2nd so large and so decisive that it boggles the imagination. Our country and our future depend on it.

7. The morning N train from Astoria to Manhattan
Dozens of people sitting, standing, reading that birdcage liner, that WWF of daily rags, the NY Post. Every morning, I got a glimpse of the fun, festive headlines. Those circus-meisters couldn't remember 9-11 if their lives depended on it... else they'd be calling for an open and critical investigation.

Okay. One NYP exception. That interesting morning in May 2002 when they had the huge screaming BUSH KNEW headline, with W's head over the exploding towers. That was good.
