Can you imagine prisoner abuse and torture if Jimmy Carter were president?

I say that the entire tone of what's going on in Iraq has been set by the president. Bush may not have ordered the MP's to torture the prisoners, but he certainly has created the climate where it was acceptable to do it. The generals knew that Bush/Rumsfeld would look the other way and that they could proceed with their bloodlust.

Let's hope that Kerry can bring some honor back to the White House.

1. I agree--relentless demonizing of Iraqis got Bush his election year war

and got the soldiers to hate the enemy instead of respecting them as human beings. It's hard to believe they were able to use the media to turn back the clock this far (1840?) but they did.
