Cleveland:why liberal?
Pls tell me how Cleveland came to be smart enough to elect my favorite, Kucinich?

Has it some historical roots that explain it?

Anything Similar to Milwaukee's lib german immigrants, or SFrisco's gold rush influx?

Ps was the elec co that Kuci fought, the same one nailed for starting the great northeast blkout last year?

1. He was a good fit for that city
Cleveland has a lot of white ethnics (Slavs Poles etc). His views are similar to those of many Clevelanders. He is a tireless worker. He has an amazing political mind. Those combined to make him very able to win there.

2. One other thing
Cuyahoga county, which is where Cleveland is, has one of the highest local tax rates in the country. They have very good services in regards to the elderly, the disabled, and children. Overall it is economicly liberal.

3. Great orchestra...
Art Museum, lively music scene, decent housing prices. It's America's best kept secret - and I don't even live there!

4. Kucinich has been banging on doors there for 30 years
off and on. He has a political network that can override media hostility, and get on board when it's necessary to save a hospital or a steel mill. The words that everyone in his district loves to hear are "Dennis is on it."
