WOO HOO! Yesterday I registered two ex-prisoners to vote.
It was almost as exciting as registering NEW voters!!

New Mexico voter registration card says:..."and, if I have been convicted of a felony, I have completed all conditions of probation or parole, served the entirety of my sentence or have been granted a pardon by the governor"(then you are allowed to vote.)

These productive citizens had NEVER BEEN TOLD that they could now vote. One had completed his sentence and parole over TWENTY years before!! They were happy as a pig in swill that they could finally vote!! And told me"God bless you. Now I am finally a member of the human race again."

we'll just assume that these people will now vote Democratic....

....finally a member of the human race...and you can bet that these people WILL get up and vote...maybe they'll even join the Democratic campaign effort...

watch out for Katherine Harris...some similar horror might rise up in YOUR state to purge voter rolls...

hey RevCarol...you're doing the REAL important work that's going to BOOT bush* in 2004...getting out the vote, one vote at a time...other DUer's need to make certain that all their friends, relatives, and anyone they know is REGISTERED TO VOTE NOW !!!!...that's how elections are won...

3. C-Span Today on excess Sentences for Black/Brown drugs - Kennedy
(USSC Justice) gave a speech on this topic last night - a contrast to Ashcroft who worries that Judges do not give Blacks enough time for crack - the "min sentences guidlines" -and the papers have write ups this morning.

A white caller who is employeed these day but who nearly killed a man - and got 3 years - and feels Ashcroft is correct - that "Liberals" are destroying safety by suggesting some of Ashcrofts min sentenances are harsh.

A black caller who is now 51 - just got out after 20 years for possesion of 15 grams of crack - said that the GOP (for fear of the white rich that run drugs - my thought) warehouse blacks and browns in prisons (for political reasons - to look good at elections - again my thought)and have produced a system of no hope for those of color who's only known skill is street sales.

4. I tried not to look, but you're right, they registered Democratic.
Really trying to be independent, registered over 20 people to vote. But I could see on these two, because we went over the registation line by line, so that they didn't mess up, now that they finally had a chance!!

2. Way to go man!
Every adult citizen has the right to vote. Banning felons from voting isn't even constitutional.

8. Is anyone else registering voters?
1 person out of how many hundred million?

Can't believe that no one is trying to register voters, with nine (well, eight) great candidates to energize the nation and to bring back those who dropped out of the system.

AND A HEAVY VOTE ALWAYS FAVORS DEMOCRATS!! We could take back the House!!
