Rummy should be fired, but Rice, Wolfowitz, and Feith should be fired too!
Edited on Mon May-10-04 12:50 PM by bigtree

All three have been mentioned as sucessors to Rumsfeld if he should depart, but they're as bad, or worse!

Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of Defense owns shares of General Electric stock worth $100,001 to $250,000 (GE has a wide range of government contracts and regulatory issues. It is one of the largest defense contractors, with $1.7 billion worth of contracts in 2000).
http://www.publicintegrity.org/dtaweb/report.asp?ReportID=15&L1=10&L2=10&L3=0&L4=0&L5=0

Rumsfeld previously served as CEO of the pharmaceutical manufacturer G.D. Searle, a subsidiary of Pharmacia and served on the board of the drug research and development company, Gilead Science.

As a director for Gulfstream Aerospace, Rumsfeld’s stock in the company reportedly was valued at $11 million when the company was acquired by defense contractor General Dynamics in 1999. http://www.opensecrets.org/bush/cabinet/cabinet.rumsfeld.asp (Center for Responsive Politics)

The National Security Archive at George Washington University has a collection of declassified government documents that detail U.S. support of Saddam's regime. This is the collection that contains a photograph of Saddam Hussein shaking hands with Ronald Reagan's Middle East envoy, Donald Rumsfeld, who apparently said nothing to Saddam about his nuclear weapons program or his use of chemical weapons. http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/special/iraq/index.htm (The Saddam Hussein Scrapbook, National Security Archive George Washington University)

Rumsfeld was chosen as defense chief to usher in the next cash cow for the military industry: Space-Based Weaponry. He chaired the Rumsfeld Commission a.k.a.: "Commission to Assess the Ballistic Missile Threat to the United States" http://www.fas.org/irp/threat/missile/rumsfeld
http://www.fas.org/irp/congress/1998_cr/s980731-rumsfeld.htm

Wolfowitz was on the board, and Iraq reconstruction's Gen. Jay Garner was there too. The propped up space commission; the invention of Rep. Curt Weldon of Pa. (a frequent traveler to Russia and a friend of the Russian elite), was formed to refute the CIA's assessment that Star Wars was costly, unnecessary, and unworkable. Not surprisingly the commission came down in favor of restarting the Space nuclear race.

Cheney began his government career in the Nixon administration working under Donald Rumsfeld, who was the improbable director of one of the nation's first anti-poverty programs, the Office of Economic Opportunity.

Zalmay Khalilzad, now Special Envoy to Afghanistan, had signed Douglas Feith's "open letter" to President Clinton in 1998, calling for "a determined program to change the regime in Baghdad." The letter echoed policy proposals prepared by Perle and Feith two years earlier, for Israel's Binyamin Netanyahu. Khalilzad was among the first Bush administration officials to speak publicly of "regime change" in Iraq.

After the 2000 election, Khalilzad, led the Bush-Cheney transition team for the Defense Department, and served as an advisor to Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld.

"It's very simple. Saddam Hussein is no longer in power," national security adviser Condoleezza Rice told NBC. "Saddam Hussein was the problem with weapons of mass destruction," Rice said when asked why Bush was seemingly unconcerned about the inability to locate his main justification for the war.

In the fall of 2002 the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq (Chairman of the Board, Bruce Jackson), was established in the Washington offices of the right-wing American Enterprise Institute. The CLI engaged in educational and advocacy efforts to mobilize U.S. and international support for policies aimed at ending the regime of Saddam Hussein. http://www.aei.org/

This advocacy came at the same time that Condoleezza Rice and Stephen Hadley were engaged in a series of briefings with foreign policy groups, Iraq specialists and other opinion makers that was termed as a "new phase," by a White House spokesman, who described the goal as building fresh public support for Bush administration policy vs. Iraq.

Members of the CLI met in November of 2002 with President Bush's national security adviser, Condi Rice, in an effort to mount "education and advocacy efforts to mobilize U.S. and international support freeing the Iraqi people from tyranny."
Condi Rice would be an unremarkable figure in this Bush administration, if she were judged solely on her work experience outside of government, in which she perfected the role of corporate promoter and apologist.

From her position at the Charles Schwab Corporation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the University of Notre Dame, the International Advisory Council of J.P. Morgan and the San Francisco Symphony Board of Governors, to the board rooms of the Transamerica Corporation, and Hewlett Packard, Rice forged the corporate relationships which propelled her into the White House executive club. Rice, is a former longtime member of the board of directors of Chevron Oil, which merged with Texaco. Rice has a Chevron oil tanker named after her.

Rice's contribution to the Bush dynasty began when the Soviet Union collapsed and the Bush I administration needed an experienced Sovietologist. She was basically bullish on the Soviets and she was appointed Director of Soviet and East European Affairs in the National Security Council.

She was undoubtably brought on board to teach George I and his clan the difference between Perestroika and Glasnost.

She has assumed the traditional role of an international affairs Svengali to George II - a role that has distinguished such past notables as, Colin Powell, John Poindexter and Robert Iran-Contra McFarland - and she dutifully adjusted our experience-deficient commander-in-chief to the doctrine of her conservative think-tank benefactors.

Paul Wolfowitz, Deputy Secretary of DOD, and former assistant to Dick Cheney, was a Northrop-Grumman consultant.

Wolfowitz, along with Condi Rice and Richard Perle, and others, formed the Bush campaign foreign policy and national security team with others, which Ms. Rice named "The Vulcans," after a statue of the Roman god in Rice's hometown.

Wolfowitz is a longtime member of the PNAC, and a veteran of both the Reagan and Bush I administrations.

-Douglas J. Feith, Under Secretary of Defense for Policy and Director of Iraq Reconstruction is president and managing partner of former law firm, Feith & Zell; clients include Northrop-Grumman and Loral Space Communications 71. Feith created International Advisors Incorporated, a lobbying firm whose main client was the government of Turkey. The firm retained Richard Perle as an adviser between 1989 and 1994. 72

Feith owns shares of AT&T stock worth $500,00 to $1 million, (AT&T is the DOD's 43d largest contractor), Ford Motor Co. stock worth $250,001 to $500,000 (Ford is lobbying the DOD over appropriations), Verizon Communications stock worth $500,001 to $1 million, and Lucent Technologies stock worth $250,001 to $500,000.

Bechtel awarded a $25 million subcontract in October to shareholder Feith's Lucent Technologies to carry out ‘emergency' repair and rehabilitation of the communications network in Iraq. This was the first major communications infrastructure subcontract Bechtel awarded in Iraq. http://www.lucent.com/press/0803/030825.nsa.html

Some of Ahmad Chalabi's influential friends in the White House include, twenty-year friend Richard Perle and Douglas Feith. Feith, Under Secretary of Defense for Policy and Director of Iraq reconstruction is one of Chalabi's main shills in the Pentagon.

Feith used Chalabi's web of misinformation about Iraqi WMD's to develop a rationale for war against Saddam; including the ‘intelligence' that Saddam was conspiring with bin Laden.

Feith is known for a 1996 paper he co-authored and presented to President Clinton advocating the overthrow of Saddam Hussein. The letter was also signed by Richard Perle, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, and others. http://www.thedubyareport.com/iraq2.html

In the letter they argued that, "In the present climate in Washington, some may misunderstand and misinterpret strong American action against Iraq as having ulterior political motives. We believe, on the contrary, that strong American action against Saddam is in the national interest, that it must be supported, and that it must succeed."

Co-author Feith was one of about five members of the Bush administration who formed a separate ‘special plans office' in October 2001, whose purpose was to collect information from the CIA and the intelligence community to develop their own strategy for the war on terrorism. The group highlighted "interrelationships among terrorist organizations and state sponsors." They claimed "strategic alliances between Al-Qaeda and Iraq, despite the argument that such an alliance would have to withstand deep ideological and religious differences. http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/wot/iraq/office_of_special_plans.html

6. Raygoon Hosted "The General Electric Hour"
I am old enough to remember when Raygoon, hosted a television show entitled "The General Electric Hour." And how interesting it is that Scumsfeld, as well as many others that have enjoyed the profits of this corporation, especially after they were awarded so many contracts after the "Goon" virus ed our government and country.
Yes, oh hell yes, the whole criminal crew that is infecting our country need to be tried an punished for their Faustian Machinations!
But is there a moral authority anywhere that can "cast the first stone" in this demonic government!?
