of the torture allegations? I first noticed this yesterday, though it may have started sooner. Seems to me that they're spinning it now as a reaction to the insurgency or doing what they had to do to get information about plots to take out our guys, etc. Forget the fact that the torture has been going on since the moment we stepped foot in Iraq, the sheeple don't need to know THAT little fact. Am I just paranoid or has the media taken up Smirk's cause yet again?

| 1. I have seen Tweety make those disgusting arguments. |
|
"You have to be rough if you want to get information".
This is bogus and the dumbing down of Americans might make this argument successful.
This is a sad time.

| 7. Yes, I saw that from Tweety too |
|
But there was a fairly noticeable shift yesterday, at least to me. It seemed that 90% of the news I saw yesterday included at least one person making this argument. Maybe Rover sent out his weekly talking points a day early to get a jump on the mess he had to know they'd face today, huh?

| 5. Actually these Whores are bought much cheaper |
|
but essentially your statement is correct.
Individually, a Single Media Whore would sell out for a New Pair of KneePads and an Imperial Pat on the Head and a New Nickname.
The Imperial Subjects of Amerika are largely undeserving of freedom and show it daily in their low and weak character.
Some Free Americans still exist, but how many or what percentage of the population we are is unknown.

| 3. Truth is, they don't really know how to spin this. |
|
The administration doesn't really know how to handle this...except to hold more fund raisers to get more money to try to keep Bush in office.

that the reason we follow rules of war is to PROTECT OUR OWN TROOPS ! The front line infantry are now in GREATER DANGER because of the war crimes of rear echelon MPs. We also can expect our prisoners to be treated better if we do not abuse prisoners. I will tolerate NO EXCUSE for this barbaric and criminal conduct by our troops. The repugs and their cult members who condone this conduct, in any way, are un-American, immoral criminals themselves.

(& the gravity of the situation insures plenty of spin), & the facts will speak for themselves. Even though the country seems evenly divided, I have an optimism that when it comes to crimes of this level that, no matter how lined their pockets may be, even a lot of Republican politicians will not be able to justify these actions.
Right now, I think a lot of them are probably suffering from cognitive dissonance and disbelief (remember, it's only been public for a few days), but as time progresses, these rationalizations being offered will be seen for what they are, rationalizations.
Particularly if people keep the pressure on.
I seriously doubt that Seymour Hersh, for example, is suddenly going to stop speaking out.

Ive noticed this. If a Democrat cant be blamed it really confuses them. They get all weirded out when they lose their usual out.

| 9. i noticed the shift in coverage immediately after rumsfeld said, |
|
(paraphrase) i am not a lawyer, but "abuse" is different than torture, there is a legal difference, and to my knowledge no one has been charged with torture.
immediately after that the spin misters had their angle and went to work trying to earn those "kneepads and an imperial pat on the head" (lol). the corp. media used the word "abuse" instead of "torture," and worked to minimize the damage here in the u.s.
i think it is important to note, the only state that is affected by this spin is the u.s. their immediate goal is to hold it together past the election. the long term agenda is to continue to isolate the public from the rest of the world because the rest of the world sees this for what it is. war crimes, plain and simple.
