Zogby: The election is Kerry's to lose

I have made a career of taking bungee jumps in my election calls. Sometimes I haven't had a helmet and I have gotten a little scratched. But here is my jump for 2004: John Kerry will win the election.

Have you recovered from the shock? Is this guy nuts? Kerry's performance of late has hardly been inspiring and polls show that most Americans have no sense of where he really stands on the key issues that matter most to them. Regardless, I still think that he will win. And if he doesn't, it will be because he blew it. There are four major reasons for my assertion...

2. On NPR this morning Kookie Roberts said
given the economy, *'s poll numbers should be a lot better, but Iraq is dragging him down.

Ordinarily, you'd say "duh", but this is from a bought-and-paid-for whore.

4. I find it amusing..
that the people over at FR are quick to show their love and support for Zogby back when Bush leading in his polls, but now that Zogby is in Kerry's corner, they quickly do a 180 and call his polls nonsense and leftist propaganda.

8. Yeah, because nobody over here ever does that....
C'mon. We all know the freepers are kooky for many, many reasons. But I get whiplsh just as much over here where someone is a craven whore one day for saying something we don't want to hear and a bold journalistic/polling visionary the next or proof that "the tide is turning".

And I can recall many times when Zogby was labeled a tool of the Right here at DU.

5. Sweet!
I really think Zogby nailed it. People don't even know Kerry well yet, and * is already losing to him! Can't wait to see what happens when Kerry unleashes that 80 million blitzkrieg of ads! Plus, we've got all those lovely PACs hammering away at b*shco. :D

6. thanks for the second link
Now I can get it. For me it is an overzealous blocker at work. This is all fine and good. I actually agree with many of his points. But, I am less sanguine about this "He is a good closer" meme. Weld lost in MA due to the fact that Clinton carried the state huge and voters there were not happy with Republicans. In 2004, Kerry won largely due to Dean both making errors and being taken down by a hostile press. Can we count on this now? I hope so but I would rather be counting on Kerry's brilliant campaign and this.

9. That's what I thought four years ago...
If most Americans knew the positions of the two candidates Kerry would win by a landslide. This is in his favor. IMHO half of the registered voters select their candidates based on the issues. A third of them are Democrats, a third are independents, and the other third are Republicans.

The other half of registered voters unfortunately focus very little on issues, politics, or even local affairs. These are the so-called swing voters. Anything can influence the way they vote..how much they pay in taxes, the looks and personal characteristics of the candidate, whether or not they can find a job, or who most of their relatives and co-workers tend to vote for. These individuals are just as likely to change sides as they are not to vote!

11. Who ya gonna believe: Zogby or God?
Remember, God called it early, according to Pat Robertson. A landslide for Bush! No sense even voting, is there? It's all over.

Go George!

Okay, now that the feeble-minded Bush voters have left the room, let's the rest of us get cracking, volunteering for your local campaigns, knocking on doors, staffing phone banks, stuffing envelopes, and writing letters to the editor.

19. Didn't Marion (Pat) predict Daddy Bush would beat Clinton?
Based on his conversations with God?

I do remember when Clinton won, he went on the air and griped about how unholy americans just voted with their pocketbooks and should be ashamed of themselves.

We won the last election!
We are far more organized and fired up this time.
The Greens and Naderites have (mostly) seen the light.
Many, many organizations are forming and fighting for us.
NO (or at least very, very, very few) Democrats will be switching to the dark side.
Many military families will be voting for Kerry.
Many more women are organized to vote for Kerry.
The Muslim vote will not go to B* is the same numbers this time.
Many conservatives who voted for * last time have seen the light.
If Kerry can keep us all on track and present a clear and forceful message he will only gain in the polls.
Once a VP is named and gets out on the campaign we will see a gain.
* has already spent a fortune with NO GAIN to show.
KERRY WILL WIN IN A LANDSLIDE

18. Your lips to God's ears
as my Jewish MIL would say, but I am far less optimistic. I really can't blame Kerry for acting so disconnected from this battle. If he wins he gets this f--ked up mess in the Middle East, a world of hostile and vindictive nations (who used to be our allies), a huge deficit as far as the eye can see, jobs heading abroad faster than they can be tallied. Taking over this Bush generated mess is really something you'd have to be crazy to want, esp. since Kerry would likely be trying to "fix" it with a Congress of bought and paid for corporate Republican shills.
