"We gotta stay the course"
Edited on Sun May-09-04 02:11 PM by quinnox
I'm tired of this lame talking point that all the repubs are using.

When I hear this I think of a train rumbling towards a collapsed bridge with the driver saying we have to stay the course when there is another track available that leads safely away from the bridge.

They should ask them "Even if the course leads to going over a cliff?"

2. "Light at the end of the tunnel"
Thirty years ago does not seem that long to me. Ya don't even have to read a history book to know it, unless you are quite young.

Reminds me of the old Nixon one: "Don't change Dicks in the middle of a screw."

7. The ship of fools? That's the only course they seem to be on.
What a lame phrase, as if they had any direction in mind.

8. Wavering in War Can Do Good
A friend sent me this LTTE from the Lakeland Gazette:

President Bush says, "We must not waver." For many years we did not waver in Vietnam and we ran into a big black wall. It lists the names of service men and women who died in that conflict. How is it that the foreign ventures of ours do not work out as we hope they will?

14. This brings up a broader issue.
Grenada, Panama, Haiti, GW1. These are the wars that incrementally brought deathless war back to America. These wars would erase the generational scars of the Vietnam era. These wars would allow American hegemony to reassert itself. Twenty years of waiting to unleash our new and improved sanitary muscles. Enter Chimp.
