Can Bush Actually Read Above The 6th-Grade Level?
I was thinking about this the other night. When he speaks, and is using a teleprompter he still stammers and comes out with tons of Ah's and Err's as if he is stumbleing. Its not like the language used in his speaches is beyond what I'd expect from a 10-year-old. We are told that he has to have his single page briefing papers read to him - Condi's job apparently. It seems to me that one of his basic problems is that he simply can not read at a level I'd expect of a junior high school kid. Is there anyone here who teaches or has some other experience that give them the ability to acertain a reading inability?

1. It's obvious that he's only reading individual words... not sentences.
He can manage to string-together two or three words at a time. But he always pauses. For every new line. On the printed page. Or on the teleprompter. As though each line break. Was a new sentence.

His facial contortions whenever he "over-pronounces" any multisyllabic words reveal that he's concentrating to phonetically assemble the sound of each letter into something understandable.

Evidence suggests that in some cases, he doesn't see words, he sees only the individual letters from which he must construct the sounds then "look up" that word in his brain. It's not at all totally instantaneous for him.

Have you ever noticed the "monkey face" that everyone makes fun of? (And that the camera often catches.) He makes this face whenever he pronounces (over-pronounces) any word that ends in "R". Notice too that he almost always extends the "r" sound when he says "Bakerrrr" or similar words and names.

Because of his inability to read at anything higher than a 6th grade level (and that's pushing the limits)... it explains why he's so incurious about the world around him. It explains why he has such a simplistic black/white view of life and politics. He can't comprehend the grays or subtleties.

Isn't that sad?

--- Allen

3. there is no doubt in my mind that this man would score below the
average on any IQ test.

I also believe his dumbassed wife is also equally as dumb and lacking in intelligence.

And then there are his two progeny

This is the dumb family

and the incredible thing is that so many people in this country fail to recognize it is because of his stupidity, that we find ourselves in this horrible postion--and have lost more than 750 of our troops because this stupid man is in over his head and does not know how to run his life, much less this country.

So they will adore a stupid man--and declare he is the type of regular guy they would like to have a beer with.

WEll, a president should not be the type of guy you would like to have a beer with. Why? Because he has his finger on the nuclear button and it takes an intelligent, sober man to manage this rich, endowed, country and not a wannabee cowboy who plays the part , compleat with Texas accent.

4. The fact that Tenet "Reads"
the dipshit his daily briefings is very telling. In Tenet's own words "He likes me to read the briefing to him where as President Clinton was a reader." Bush was totally passed from grade to grade by his teachers and I suspect the same thing happened at Yale, and how the hell do you get into Harvard business school when you graducated with a "Gentlemans C"?
