Today, US Airways announced that they're shuttering their Pittsburgh hub. US Airways is the largest employer in the area, employing over 8,000 people.
Gawd, the Pittsburgh area can't catch a break can it?
It's sad to watch it all, even from a far. No city deserves what Pittsburgh's had to go through in the last 20 years............

Never though Pittsburgh's location and/or weather made much sense as a hub location.

Cleveland and Detroit both have lousier weather and a similar location to us and they're both hubs.
Pittsburgh worked as a funnel for US Airways's traffic from New England, the Middle Atlnatic, and Ohio to the Midwest,West Coast, and Southeast.
Philadelphia is a lousy hub for all of this; it'll turn into an unmitigated disaster. There's only so much traffic Philly can take.

that's one of the few places US Air flies to from Ithaca, to make connections.
Now we'll have to go through Philadelphia, which is always late and cancelling flights, or Laguardia...
Well, let's hope this opens the eyes of people who were considering for Chimpy.
